My Newest Dilemma

Tuesday, May 29th, 2007

Ok, I just had my birthday and I was given a hundred dollars in Bestbuy dollars, which got me thinking; I now can get a HD DVD player for only a hundred dollars(of my own money)! But then Microsoft just lowered the prices of the wireless racing wheel and Bestbuy has them on sale for 109, which would really only cost me nine dollars. But then that got me thinking, I have a Nintendo Wii that I haven’t touched since Febuary, so if I went and I sold it along with the games and accessories I have for it, add the Bestbuy dollars, I would probably only have to cough up max 200, more then likely 100-150 though. And if I took that route I would have a high-def dvd player and another videogame console. So with all this going on, I’m not sure what I should do, and this is why I am posting this here, to see what you all think. So do me a favor and help me make my decision for me.

Games for GI’s

Tuesday, May 1st, 2007

What is the one of the biggest holidays of the year? Memorial Day. What’s so cool about it? Well, while many people like it because of the 4 day weekend or because it signals that summer is near, Memorial Day is a day that we are to remember all those that gave their life fighting for this country and what they believe in. This day is also about thinking of those that are risking their lives overseas every day. So here at XBL Radio, we decided to hold a game drive for these awesome and sometimes forgot about troops.

Did MS have the first next Gen. system or Did Sony?

PSX

You may not have heard of the PSX, put out by Sony but in 2003 they put out their Sony media center, digital video recorder, and DVD player, and PlayStation 2 video game console. It was released in Japan on 12-13-2003 but ended there due to poor sales. It came with a 160 or a 250 GB hard drive to record TV, home movies, digital photos, or to play PS 2 titles. You were also able to link the PSX to your psp to transfer videos and music. Rumor has it that if you do have this system that it will link up with the PS3. The system is also know as the Sony Cross Media Bar (XMB).

Our slogan. Our idea. Our credit, please?

Friday, March 16th, 2007

Â

It’s no secret that the big wigs are getting paid for the work and ideas of the small independant nine-to-fivers. Well we’re actually six-to-tenners since we already have a nine-to-five… but back on point. I gotta wonder if Sony has connections with Kotaku, ’cause this kick-in-balls vibrates all the way up to my teeth.

“Your life. Your network. Your home.” - March 2007. Now let’s go back in time to October 2005, as this was said on our first podcast: “Your game. Your voice. Your radio.” Does that ring a bell? Maybe not for most of you, since we only got about hundred downloads off that show at the time. But we’ve been using it ever since and I’ve been proud to call LIVE on LIVE my home for the past 38 shows. (That’s 76 weeks in XBLR time!)

So is it really ridiculous to think that the slogan was stolen from us? It’s not so absurd when you consider this…  A HUGE chunck of our organization (some could argue all of it) is dedicated to Xbox LIVE, which is Home’s direct competition. It is ones job, atleast when you’re getting paid for it, to know what the rivals are up to. So when you look at Xbox Live as a product, it is impossible to ignore the community that supports it.  Your game, your voice, your radio has been supporting it for a year and a half, with recognition, before the Xbox 360 launched, before Sony announced that there would be no unified online structure for the PS3.

I should have went to law school, cause I’m probably the only one with the balls (atleast what’s left of ‘em) to sue Sony. After all, it is my life. Maybe if I look in my network hard enough, I could find a lawyer for the job. Now don’t get me wrong… It’s flattering that they like our ideas, I’m thrilled that they want to take them; but, can we get a little credit, please?

I didn’t think so either. Now if you’ll excuse me, I’m gonna go rent Erin Brockovich and watch it in my radi-I mean, uhh… home.

Factual statistics or just something for the fanboys to fluster about? Either way, NexGenWars.com is the eaisiest way to find out the status of all 3 console sales. In fact so easy, it’s virtually the only thing you’ll find on the site at this point.

There is some more information to learn about this site and you can get it by checking out gamertagradio.com!  Godfree will publish an interview with the founder/owner of NexGenWars.com soon.

Leo Laporte: “I think the PS3 stands to be a huge bust.”

Saturday, October 28th, 2006

In a rare interview, Leo Laporte shares his thoughts about Sony’s major console release right around the corner.

Some might say, “Leo is no gaming expert”. Well, gaming is right up his alley as the subject does harmonize in the realm of technology. Leo Laporte is a Tech Guru, in fact-considered by many-The Tech Guru. With over 250,000 weekly downloads of TWiT and over several hundred thousand more downloads of his other tech publications to go along with his live radio show on KFI 640 AM in LA, Laporte knows what he’s talking about.Â

“Unless they come out with something really
good-some specatular, mind blowing, good
games that are just unique to the platform-
I think the PS3 may be a really big bust for Sony.”

Laporte knows his stuff. Has he been wrong about things? Not often. Will he be wrong about this one? November 17th is not the day we’ll find out.  Of course the PS3 is gonna sell out that day. But with the Xbox 360 having a year jump start and the Nintendo Wii launching two days later for less than half the price, perhaps there will be a new console king this generation.

I don’t think Final Fantasy 72
or whatever it’s gonna be, is going
to be enough to make the PS3 a success.”

Back in August, XBL Radio sat down with Laporte for a frank, one hour discussion about technology, podcasting and gaming. If you missed that interview, you can find it on the XBL Extra Feed (also on iTunes). You can direct download the audio here (Right Click, Save As… for best download experience).

Ref, which game are you watching?!

Friday, August 25th, 2006

I did not think the time would come where you would be complaining about the referee’s in a game, but if you own a copy of NCAA Football 07 for the PSP, you could be yelling at the TV set all-day. According to EA there a bug that cause’s some copies of the game to spot the ball in the wrong spot. The ball will be placed at the spot where first contact was made not where you were tackled. For exp. you could break a tackle at the line for a 50 yard run and the ball would be brought back to the line. EA will replace copies of the game that exhibit the glitch with brand new bug-free discs. To get a fresh copy of NCAA Football 07, gamers should send their effected discs, along with their name, mailing address, e-mail address, and phone number, to EA.  The replacement disc will be sent out within 10 business days. To apologize for the inconvenience, EA will also send out coupons good for $15 off gamers’ next purchase at EA’s online store, as well as free shipping on the order.
