After only being out for just a few weeks, Mega Man 9 is getting downloadable content this week. WiiWare Channel will get its DLC today, while XBLA will get the content tomorrow, with the PSN following on Thursday. We are getting two pieces of content, Endless attack and Proto Man Mode. Here is the press release of what these two items will have in store for us.
Endless Attack – Test your skills on a stage without end. Try to break the record for getting the farthest. Results will be displayed in the Rankings page. Not compatible with other Challenges.
Proto Man Mode - Play the game as Proto Man. Some of Proto Man’s abilities may differ from Mega Man’s. Proto Man has the Charge Shot ability, Power Slide ability, and a shield that he can utilize to deflect bullets at enemies. However, Proto Man also takes double damage and has double bounce back when he is hit.
There is no story for Proto Man and he is not compatible with Rankings or Challenges.
No word on the cost for this DLC, but for all you die hard Mega Man fans that might have beat the game already, here is some more content for you.
Also adding to this, rumor has it that there will be more DLC available on October 20th.
Check out some images after the jump.

Infectedpb503 and I had a chance to sit down with Aaron Kraus, Product Marketing Manager for Mirror’s Edge, while we were at the Penny Arcade Expo. Before we go too far into my thoughts of the game, let’s go over the basics first. Mirror’s Edge is being developed by DICE, and published by EA. This title falls under the First-Person Action Adventure genre. and will be released on the PS3, Xbox360, and PC. Read the rest of this entry »
For all you music enthusiasts and video game rockers, this Friday (September 12, 2008) will be a monumental first for both the gaming and music industries. Metallica’s ninth album, Death Magnetic, will be available as downloadable content for Activision’s Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock, and you will also be able to pick up the album at your local music store. Also included with this DLC is two renditions of “Suicide & Redemption” that has extended solos by James Hetfield and Kirk Hammett. But don’t let what you read totally impress you because the best has yet to be told. For all you rockers that will be picking up Guitar Hero World Tour, this DLC album is forward compatible. Meaning, all you have to do is pick up Guitar Hero World Tour and the album will seamlessly integrate with the game when it is released this October at no extra charge.
Harmonix and MTV Games have created a very special set of downloadable content to celebrate the three day event called Penny Arcade Expo. The “PAX 2008 Collection”, which should be up today, contains tracks from Jonathan Coulton, MC Frontalot, and The Darkest of the Hillside Thickets - all of whom performed at the event last weekend. And to add to the excitement, all proceeds from the sales of this “PAX Pack” between launch and Holiday 2008 will be donated to the Child’s Play Charity that is ran by Penny Arcade.
The songs that will be available individually and as a pack are “Skullcrusher Mountain” by Jonathan Coulton, “Livin’ on the Corner of Dude and Catastrophe” by MC Frontalot, and “Shhh….” by Darkest of the Hillside Thickets. Individual song prices are .99¢ (80 Microsoft Points for Xbox 360) per track, or $2.99 (240 Microsoft Points for Xbox 360) for the 3 pack. All of these songs are the original master recordings. These songs should be available today to purchase for Rock Band on the Xbox360, and for PS3 owners, these tracks will be available on Thursday, September 4, 2008.
The Demo starts off with a short cut scene featuring Starkiller (that is the main character) and Darth Vader having a discussion about the upcoming mission, your final test. The key line is leave no survivors. You are Darth Vader’s secret apprentice, born Galen Marek. Your mission is to wipe the Jedi out of existence. You are the great Jedi Purge taking place between episode III and IV. With a heavy focus on cinematography during the cut scene, you can feel some of the love poured into this game; you feel the rest once you get to use the force powers.
