It’s Nintendo’s turn to brag

Posted under Nintendo

Nintendo Reports that over five million DS owners have connected via WiFi, worldwide. Those users have engaged in more than 200 million sessions of gameplay since the service was introduced in November 2005. More than 60 titles, including Mario Kart DS and Animal Crossing: Wild World offer WiFi connected gameplay.

“Nintendo DS gamers globally use Nintendo WiFi Connection as an easy, fun place to find fellow players, all without paying anything extra for the service,” said Nintendo of America president Reggie Fils-Aime. “The milestones represent millions of hours of fun and camaraderie despite miles between players.”

If Sony and Nintendo continue to flaunt their (free) online services, maybe this could pressure Microsoft into finally offering Gold service at no charge? Hey, I think I saw that Devil at Dillard’s looking for a Winter jacket. But it was far and kinda dark; it could have just as well been Carpal.

My Newest Dilemma

Posted under Microsoft, PS3, Sony, Steve519, Wii, Xbox 360

Ok, I just had my birthday and I was given a hundred dollars in Bestbuy dollars, which got me thinking; I now can get a HD DVD player for only a hundred dollars(of my own money)! But then Microsoft just lowered the prices of the wireless racing wheel and Bestbuy has them on sale for 109, which would really only cost me nine dollars. But then that got me thinking, I have a Nintendo Wii that I haven’t touched since Febuary, so if I went and I sold it along with the games and accessories I have for it, add the Bestbuy dollars, I would probably only have to cough up max 200, more then likely 100-150 though. And if I took that route I would have a high-def dvd player and another videogame console. So with all this going on, I’m not sure what I should do, and this is why I am posting this here, to see what you all think. So do me a favor and help me make my decision for me.

Win a free copy of Lost Planet

Posted under Contests, XBL Radio, Xbox 360

Lost Planet Giveaway

Gamers from all over now have the choice to choose their path to Lost Planet. You can choose to go through a casino in Las Vegas, or even the Las Vegas University while battling terrorist. Or you can trek your way through Mexico, where you’re the outsider and nobody wants you there. As the gamer, you have the option to choose how you get the copy of Lost Planet.

Please Choose either Rainbow Six: Vegas or Ghost Reacon Advance Warfighter 2. Which ever game has the majority of votes, will be the game the tournament is in. Once you have voted, please sign-up below by leaving your gamertag. Keep in mind that there maybe a chance your game is not the one the tournament is held in, so if you still want to play, please try to have a copy, or able to get a copy, of both.

The voting will go on for 2 weeks (June 11). At that point we will create the tournament and teams. Rules of the tournament and how it will work will be posted no later than Tuesday, May 29. I’m hoping for at least 48 players.

Thank you from all of us here at XBL Radio.

aaaarrrg! My BOOTY!

Posted under Movies

No seriously my booty is sore as hell after 3 hours plus of viewing
“As the Worlds End” turns.

I love Summer films. The Popcorn, the Block-Busters, the air conditioning…. However, lately I’ve never wanted to get out of the theater so bad. The latest installment of Gore Verbinski’s Disney-theme-park ride movie tie-in has left my treasure chest  numb and I’m glad it’s over.

Johnny Depp returns with his Keith Richard’s imatation (this time actually bringing Keith along for support) as Jack Sparrow. The rest of the gang is there too. Where the past two films had thrill after thrill;  this one places thrills in between a drama at sea sandwich. (and if thrill is the meat, your mouth is full of bread). It seems as if it took 30 minutes to get the movie back to interest level, and then another 30 to make you lose it.

I don’t want to spoil the film for XBL Radio listeners–I’ll leave that to the film–but I do want to warn you: If the game (which we will review soon) is anything like the movie;Â expect to be bored.

I will leave on one good note: The ending is amazing. It’s just the hours getting to it that made this movie a bad outing for my family and I.

I have read somewhere that Johnny Depp doesn’t watch his own work. Well thats 3 better hours, he has spent, in his life than mine!

Revelations: Xbox Live Platinum, Xbox Live to a WHOLE ‘NOTHER LEVEL!

Posted under XBL Radio

This article was wrote by The L1TIG4T0R, here in our forums.

In the beginning, Sony created both the Playstation 1 and 2 and they thought that it was good.

However, then MICROSOFT created the Xbox and Xbox Live. THE WORLD saw that it was AWESOME!

Since that time there’s been many transformations and even a …NEXT GENERATION REVOLUTION! Xbox Live have enlisted more people than even the “Great Wall of Wilt Chamberlein” has.

But with fame, comes a price. Constant struggle against the very people who have supported you. Defiant mutiny in the face of attempted growth.

YES…I’m talking about you reading this! You mock Xbox Live and justify your actions by spouting out your $50 defense. You ridicule the great minds that would bring you such joy and community driven passion. You protest and cry because you can’t get what you want!!!!

Today I say unto thee….you are right.

Why you wanna jerk me around?

Posted under XBL Radio

UPDATE: (6-1-2007) — My problem, stated in this artical, with Microsoft have been resolved. Due to having a contact with MS in our staff, my problem was able to get a little extra attention and it is much appreciated. However, I have to wonder if this problem would have been resolved (with the very generous outcome that it did) if we did not have a contact with MS.

Take the jump to read the original artical.

“New” Funky, Fresh, Gears Content Coming Soon

Posted under XBL Radio

“Taken from CVG.COM”
Epic VP Mark Rein says that “significant progress” is being made in the development of the next Gears of War update, and new achievements are set to be added as well.

Speaking on the official Gears of War foum, Rein said that Epic plans to make use of new Microsoft guidelines allowing developers to add 250 extra gamerpoints via download content.

“The next Gears of War update is coming along nicely”, he said. “We don’t have a release timeframe for it yet but I just wanted to let you know we’re making significant progress. In addition to the previously mentioned plan to improve roadie run we’re also going to have new achievements relating to Annex and the Hidden Fronts DLC.

“The title update is free and that’s what contains the achievements. However some of the achievements are tied to things relating to playing the maps in the Hidden Fronts map pack which currently costs money but will be made free in a few months.”

I love Epic so much I think I am gonna pee!!!!!……on Steve.

The Marketplace Mistake…

Posted under Market Place, Xbox 360, Xbox Live

I can’t figure this one out:Â

My kids are out of school for the Summer and I want to keep them entertained. As you all know my kids are gamers (just like their Dad). Recently they are really enjoying the Arcade titles that MS has been releasing. I, as a parent, don’t mind purchacing them because I get to play them as well. However, now there are issues with who gets the 360 when Dads home.

Solution:

Buy another 360! Right? Hmmm… It’s not that clear-cut. If I have a second console for my kids; then what happens to all the Arcade games I own? Do I call MS everytime I buy a game now to let them know my other gamertag isn’t getting it? Do I purchace each game twice for the same household? Do I recover my Gamertag each time I go to my kids console? Do I really wan’t to bother with any of these choices?

I know that this may seem trivial but:Â

Itunes lets me share my music througout the home. I can rent a DVD from Blockbuster and any set with a player can watch it. Even TIVO lets me leap-frog my programs to other TIVO players. GAMEtap lets you have up to six accounts. So why do we have to hop through hoops to play TMNT?

With all of these issues I am really pondering telling the Kids that paying for one account and one game at a time is enough. If anyone can tell me an antidote for this please clue me in. I will discuss it on the next cast. Keep in mind I don’t want to make a phone call, re-download my gamertag, or do anything that takes real effort to play a game I’ve already paid for. I think buying two consoles with two GOLD memberships tied to the same VISA card is proof enough that I have the right to play the game no matter where I am sitting.
