Around the end of Dec. of 2007 I had everyone’s friendly Grim Reaper come and visit me. Yes that’s right the 3 Red lights of Death. Since that cold night in December; Mr. Grim Reaper has been back 6 times. I am averaging about 3 days of play time on my repaired 360 which has not been replace but repaired (if that’s what you call it). Now Xbox Customer Support CSR’s have been nice to talk to, but after that the tech repairing of their systems has been as bad as an episode of the Hill’s. Too bad their hands are tied and there is not much they can do beyond take the trouble order.
I have asked to speak to someone in the repair department and was told over and over NO!. I am told that they are not allowed to even call over there and don’t even know their #. So I have e-mailed tech support and keep getting the run-around. I have even tried to get in touch with Larry Hryb (Major Nelson). I have yet to get a response to any e-mail I have sent.
Back in July of 2007 Peter Moore (former CVP) extended the warranty and said that they have fallen short in the customer’s satisfaction repairs. Well as someone who has had major problems I guess MS (Xbox) quit caring the day Peter Moore left the building for EA. I sincerely feel it’s because there is no one there that is concerned about the customer.
I know this may come off as just another angry post vented towards MS Xbox repairs; however I am honestly saddened by the lack of integrity by the very console I have been a proud supporter of. I am further saddened that the company that prides itself on customer accessibility (Major Nelson, 18004myXbox) are not as obtainable as they lead on.

TOG
He has been with XBL Radio from the start. However as with all good things, this too must end. TOG (as we know him around here) has come to a pivitol point in his XBLR partnership. He had to choose between Family and Football or Friend Requests and Frequent Late-Nights. Its hard to do a podcast, be a gamer, and still have time to enjoy your other hobbies. As most of you know TOG is quite a Bike rider. This and his 1 year old Son bites into a shrinking personal time. So he made a decision and XBLR will have to respect it. He has been an asset to the Staff and will always be remembered as the Inspiration for the XBL Radio Podcast!
That said: I may plan to carry on. However I choose not to do a one-man show. So if interested send me your inquery. I will get back with you. Until then; enjoy XBL Radio (even in it’s new form).

It’s almost time for us all to dress up and head out into the neighborhoods for those tasty sweets. Yes that’s right it almost Halloween, the scary time of the year.
That got me thinking, which games are the scariest games to come out in 2007? Did BioShock (360, PC) keep you in shock, what about Vampire Rain (360). Did it rain down the pain? FEAR (PS3), did you have to play with the lights on? Don’t forget Lair (PS3), The Darkness (360, PS3), and Folklore (PS3). If there are any that I forgot let us know and don’t forget to pick.

Earlier this week we posted a story from 8BitJoystick. com about some inside info he received about Bungie and Microsoft’s relationship to end in the near future.
Well good job goes out to 8BitJoystick. com for getting the scoop on the story. Its nice to see a independent site post this way before all the big dogs. Today Game Spot put out an article confirming what 8 bit has been saying all along.
Read for your self.
Halo 3-maker set to “return to its independent roots” with MS retaining a minority financial stake in the company.
By Emma Boyes, GameSpot UK
Posted Oct 5, 2007 8:52 am PT
Rumors have been bubbling over the Internet cauldron all week that Bungie would be jumping ship from its corporate masters at Microsoft. The rumours seemed unlikely to be true, as Bungie has been wholly owned by the Microsoft machine since 2000.
Today, though, the unlikely became reality. This morning, Bungie announced it was officially splitting away from Microsoft to become an independent, privately held developer, Bungie LLC. Microsoft will continue to retain a minority stake in Bungie, and continue its long-standing publishing agreement with the company.
“While we are supporting Bungie’s desire to return to its independent roots, we will continue to invest in our Halo entertainment property with Bungie and other partners, such as Peter Jackson, on a new interactive series set in the Halo universe,” said Shane Kim, corporate vice president of Microsoft Game Studios.
Bungie will remain in its current location in Kirkland, Washington, and will retain its primary focus on Microsoft platforms. Harold Ryan, Bungie’s studio head, commented, “This… will enable us to expand both creatively and organizationally.” Ryan also stated that the studio would continue to work on Halo, and “beyond.”
“Bungie is like a shark,” said Bungie founder Jason Jones. “We have to keep moving to survive. We have to continually test ourselves, or we might as well be dolphins. Or manatees.” (Emphasis in the original.)
Bungie’s latest release, Halo 3, has nabbed $300 million in sales in its first week, becoming the fastest-selling video game in history…

A friend of a friend told a friend that his friend said he has a friend that works at Bungie and that they were going to part ways with Microsoft.
Well, something like that.
Over at 8BitJoystick. com there’s a post by Jake stating a friend of his that works at Bungie sent him an “internal” email saying that Bungie will no longer be under the thumb of MS and that with in the next day or two you will have an announcement from MS & Bungie.
Today I called both MS and Bungie and both pretty much told me that they knew nothing of the matter and had no other comment.

PS3,
Rumor Control,
TOG Will a new PS3 hit the stores this year? I have learned some information that might prove it true.
Early this month, we recently discovered the FCC filing Sony made with in its PS3 models. Now there’s a new advertisement spot for five free Blu-Ray movies on BluraySavings.com. To get the 5 free Blu-Ray movies you have to buy 1 of the 18 qualifying Blu-Ray disc player models.

The PS3 as of now only has 3 models but in this ad it shows a list of FOUR model numbers for the PS3 the CECHA01, CECH01, CECH0198137 (80 GB), & CECHG01. So will we see a new version for the Holiday season?

“The page you tried is unavailable.”
“ALERT: Due to high traffic related to the launch of Halo 3, some site features may be currently unavailable. Please try again later.”
With Halo 3 hitting the 360, getting around on Live has become a task with in itself. My Xbox tab on Windows Messenger, the Xbox.com web page and playing games on the live service has become as difficult as getting all the achievements for GRAW 2. Maybe Microsoft should do a new survey. Would you pay by the minute for no lag? I can see the ad now.

For a fee of $.99 per minute with the 10th min. free.

achievement -
1 : the act of achieving : ACCOMPLISHMENT
2 a : a result gained by effort b : a great or heroic deed
We are going into the 3rd calendar year with the Achievement system, which Microsoft implemented along with their XBOX 360 console. So I took time to reflect back on my past achievements that I have won. WOW! Were they all over the place! They were from 50-200 to 600-900 point per game. With that said I don’t know what that means. Am I a quitter when it comes to playing all the way through games or are the Achievements to hard to get.
It seems that gaming companies follow a trend with the achievements they put into their games: Sport games seem to be easier in achieving your goals. Racing games I find myself on the short end of the stick. First Person Shooters I’m landing right in the middle of the achievement grade card. Then there’s the arcade, which to my surprise looks to be the most consistent over all.
But you have to ask yourself: Is this because the arcade is where I go to get my quick fix? Therefore you don’t play those games long enough to get all there achievements? I don’t know the answer.
But there is one thing I do know; that your gaming skills don’t reflect your Gamer score. This score is to be a reflection of games you have played on the Xbox 360. But it seems the mirror is cracked.
I wish we all would be able to look at our True Skill stats. This would reflect a truer depiction of your gaming skills. As of now the current Achievement system is an indicator of who has a Gamefly membership and who doesn’t.
TOG out!
