Penny Arcade Expo is one of the few gamer shows that seems too short.
Platform Nation was there at the final day of PAX 2008 to witness the final wind-down of this huge event.
GamerEdie Sellers was joined by a host of other Platform Nation hosts, including Chiahippo (Platform Nation), Mrs. LeftyBrown (The Married Gamers), X3R0 9 (XBLRadio), InfectedPB503 (XBLRadio), BDazzler (Gamers Pub) and Platform Nation’s fearless leader, Steve519.
This panel discussion of the final day’s events also includes an impressive array of guests. Todd Howard, creative director of Bethesda’s Fallout 3, reveals a bunch of details about the game and fearlessly answers a half-hour of constant questions from the panel and the live chat-room audience.
Shawn Smith of Ninjatown also gets peppered with tons of questions about the upcoming DS game and what it’s like to go from being a game journalist to a game developer.
Finally Jeff Pobst, CEO of Hidden Path, talks about their upcoming tower-defense game, Defense Grid: The Awakening. He also gets very candid about Microsoft’s certification process and offers up insight about the development industry from a CEO’s viewpoint.
Penny Arcade Expo was in full swing, and Platform Nation was there to bring you live coverage. On day two, Edie Sellers, BDazzler (of Gamers Pub), Cephiros (writer for Platform Nation), InfectedPB503, and X3r0 9 made the day special with interviews and impressions of games they’d seen… and those they didn’t see. Guests include Hudson Games and Trixie360 of Gamerscore Blog.
Check it out!
By the way, the recording jumps in about five minutes into the show, as the engineer forgot to start recording at the beginning of the show.
Harmonix and MTV Games have created a very special set of downloadable content to celebrate the three day event called Penny Arcade Expo. The “PAX 2008 Collection”, which should be up today, contains tracks from Jonathan Coulton, MC Frontalot, and The Darkest of the Hillside Thickets - all of whom performed at the event last weekend. And to add to the excitement, all proceeds from the sales of this “PAX Pack” between launch and Holiday 2008 will be donated to the Child’s Play Charity that is ran by Penny Arcade.
The songs that will be available individually and as a pack are “Skullcrusher Mountain” by Jonathan Coulton, “Livin’ on the Corner of Dude and Catastrophe” by MC Frontalot, and “Shhh….” by Darkest of the Hillside Thickets. Individual song prices are .99¢ (80 Microsoft Points for Xbox 360) per track, or $2.99 (240 Microsoft Points for Xbox 360) for the 3 pack. All of these songs are the original master recordings. These songs should be available today to purchase for Rock Band on the Xbox360, and for PS3 owners, these tracks will be available on Thursday, September 4, 2008.
Within weeks the Penny Arcade Expo will be upon us and the excitement just waiting for it to come, builds more and more…at least for me it does and I’m sure it’s the same for Infectedpb503. As you already know, XBLRadio will be there, but with new faces. Infectedpb503 and myself, X3R0 9, will be there bringing you all the scoop and content that you want. But we won’t be the only ones there from the wonderful community of Platform Nation. Members from The Gamers Pub, Gamehounds, Squad XP, The Married Gamer, and Platform Nation will also be in attendance at PAX. I would be nice and tell you who from each show is going, but why don’t you check out the shows to find out. And while you are there, leave some feedback for them. I’m sure they would love to hear from all of you.
Topics Include: Bungie is working on three new projects! Halocon possibly coming! Guitar Hero World Tour set list leaked! New Splinter Cell game delayed! More Itagaki vs. Techmo! Watchmen episodic content! All this and more! Thanks for listening, Please leave us a comment on the show or send us an e-mail at: xblradio@platformnation.com
Hey everybody, what’s up? This is something new we’re trying that helps us let you know what’s new and exciting that concerns gaming or the community. You won’t hear any news ’cause, well that’s covered on the .0 and the .5 shows. What you will hear is Marketplace content, any PSN content, games that maybe coming out in the weeks ahead that need to be mentioned, and community news. So, if you like what you hear and would like us to keep it, let us know, we’re interested in what you think and we want to provide you, the gamers with the most information we can possibly give you. Oh, and if you have any ideas for names, let us know, we just might use it…if it’s okay with you of course.
Mixed in are Contests, Contests, & more Contests (see below also)! All this and more!

My friends, we always do our best here at XBL radio to bring you all thing Gaming, as well as tech news and such. You come here because you trust in what we say, and you know we have your best interest in mind. Here we have something that I, (GUI J) am totally excited for, and think if you give it a chance, will love it also. Wizkids is a company who makes tabletop games featuring many different licenses from Marvel, to DC, to Star wars. Well my friends, to coincide with what will be the biggest gaming event of the year Wizkids is introducing their newest license, HALO Clix. Rusty and I spent a good amount of time playing it at PAX and we had a blast, it was easy to learn and simulated a multiplayer Halo experience. Here is the video interview I did with Wizkids at PAX. Take the time, check it out, and then go to www.wizkids.com. After all is said and done make sure to keep in touch with XBL for a follow up interview with the Wizkids group. It sure makes something really cool to play on a rainy day, or say while waiting in line for a certain game.
This was a impromptu interview that MrCarpalTunnel did with the folks from the upcoming hit Geometry Wars: Galaxies for the Nintendo Wii and the Nintendo DS
