Screw BlueTooth!

Posted under Xbox

Put that old Xbox Headset to good use!

Do you still have your old Xbox Headset lying around? If you are not using your old xbox anymore, then I have the perfect use for your old Headset! Use it for your cell phone! I keep mine in my car at all times so I talk hands free on the go! Your headset is already compatible with most cell phones.

Motorolla is starting a new trend by doing away with the mic input and going wireless (bluetooth) hands free exclusive! SCREW THAT! Why spend $50 when you already have a perfect, much more comfortable hands free headset?

Verizon Wireless to drop its monthly music fee!

Posted under Tech News, Xbox
Ipod Killer

Verizon wireless will be releasing a new phone that mimics the Ipod and at the same time will be dropping its $15 monthly fee. Instead you will pay per song at the rate of $1.99. You will pay around a $1 more than what you can get at Itunes. But what I find intriguing is that you can download the song twice once on your phone and once on your PC. Is Group Chat in the next UPDATE?

Posted under Rumor Control, Xbox

While talking to a distributor for MS today I was told a new update is in the works. He went on to describe how Microsoft Reps told him that before the “Official Summer Season” has ended a new update roll-out from Xbox Live would be implemented. This may not seem a big deal, however he mention “Group Chat” was in the works. He stated that up to 4 players could communicate by Seasons end over Xbox Live.

Typically, we here at XBLRadio do not spread rumors. However since this is a hot topic with us. (due to our LIVE.5 recordings) I had to break the “possible truth” first.

If anybody could shed some light on this topic I we would appreaciate it. I promise XBLR staff will continue to seek out the facts. Hopefully we can put those “Private Chat” days behind us.

E3 to become Wee3!

Posted under Steve519, Xbox

E3 is not lucrative for many gaming companies. Due to the increasing costs, as well as the promotional dues and event costs, you may see a smaller version of E3 this year. An article on Gamespot was reported as saying-

“On July 28, the Web site of UK trade magazine MCV reported discussions had taken place between the ESA and E3 exhibitors which addressed the future of the annual trade show. GameSpot spoke with informed game industry sources late Friday and Saturday and learned that the show would radically shrink in size and move from its usual Los Angeles Convention Center (LACC) venue to a smaller location.

Sources said that rather than fill the 540,000 square feet of the cavernous LACC, the show will take place at a location that would support exhibitors in meeting room space only, with companies showing their wares to a select group of attendees numbering in the hundreds rather than thousands.”

This may make E3 more intimate for serious gamers. Some past E3 patrons complained about the too impersonal nature that a large venue like E3 has to offer. Many seeking smaller venues throughout the year. However E3 has always been the “BIGGEST EVENT in GAMING”

NCAA 360 Themes and Picture Packs

Posted under Market Place, Sports, Steve519, Xbox, Xbox Live

Rent is due for EA, and its time for you to pay up, thats right, new picture packs and themes for ‘NCAA ‘07’ are now available. Each school theme is 150 points each and each school picture pack is 60 points each.

This content is only available for United States Xbox Live members.

I for one, am tired of these dollar here, dollar there things, if I spend 60 dollars for the damn game it should include some damn picture packs and themes, I shouldn’t have to spend money to show I like the game. So far very few games has done this, cloning Clyde, table tennis. I really think the community needs to be behind me on this one and let the big companies know that this isn’t right and we are not going to pay for something that should have been included if you spend so much for the game.

A 360 Spin on MS finances for the new year!

Posted under XBL Radio, Xbox

Microsoft stated yesterday, at it’s annual financial meeting, that it would see profit in it’s Xbox franchise. Robbie Boch, one of the many heads of Xbox, said although the Xbox has had, Â and will see losses into 2007, the losses will not be nearly the same as 2006. He claims that this was a “transitional” year for the console. The fiscal year 2008 officially began July 1st 2007. So let’s just hope they were not counting on GALAGA sales.

Tune into XBL Radio ver 23.0 for the full review on Xbox Live Arcade’s Galaga this Tuesday.

The PODCAST AWARDS: Is this the best out there?

Posted under Podcast, Xbox

I recently was told about this site. It is an award site for individual Podcasts to obtain awards for their programs. I think, in theory, this is a great way to praise the work Podcasters do. However, in looking at some of the finalists, I noticed some Podcasts were not even mentioned. (Major Nelson, SquadXP, GamerAddictHotline, TheWidget, GamerAndy, TheVideoGamesShow, GoNintendo, PS3Countdown, and XBLR) I was curious why. Is the “PODCAST AWARDS” more or less a way to get Podcasters to promote their site, or is it truely what the populus thinks. I am under the impression (from looking at the way the awards are run) that it is a little of both. The Podcast must refer it’s listeners and non-listeners (forum members, friends, etc..) to vote at Podcast awards. Thus bringing heavy traffic to the awards site. In return the “Winner” of the awards gets traffic directed back at it.  . So I ask: Is this a true depiction of excellence in Podcasting, or is it merely a way for PodcastAwards.com to build a large web-site?
