LIVE 44.5 Bonus Audio

Thursday, May 31st, 2007

As promised, here is the supplemental audio from our most recent show, 44.5. It’s some pretty cool conversation between Rusty and GUI J in a 30 minute spectacle including the roundtable outtakes.

Here’s what they talked about…
Rusty’s skermish with Bungie. Is what they are doing with Halo 2 right?
Why does XBLR pick on Microsoft so much? Is there really more bad things than good about our favorite console?
Nintendo boasting about it’s FREE online service. What does this mean for MS and Online Gaming?
What should Steve do about his Best Buy dilema? He gave us 3 options. What about a fourth?
XBLR pats it’s back.
New Contest to Win Lost Planet: You decide how!
The Guitar Hero 2 Video Contest will be announced Tuesday, on ver 45.0!
“And Now For” Outtakes™: Check out some of the funny, sometimes serious and even just plain weird things our guests and hosts say that don’t make the final cut.

It’s Nintendo’s turn to brag

Wednesday, May 30th, 2007

Nintendo Reports that over five million DS owners have connected via WiFi, worldwide. Those users have engaged in more than 200 million sessions of gameplay since the service was introduced in November 2005. More than 60 titles, including Mario Kart DS and Animal Crossing: Wild World offer WiFi connected gameplay.

“Nintendo DS gamers globally use Nintendo WiFi Connection as an easy, fun place to find fellow players, all without paying anything extra for the service,” said Nintendo of America president Reggie Fils-Aime. “The milestones represent millions of hours of fun and camaraderie despite miles between players.”

If Sony and Nintendo continue to flaunt their (free) online services, maybe this could pressure Microsoft into finally offering Gold service at no charge? Hey, I think I saw that Devil at Dillard’s looking for a Winter jacket. But it was far and kinda dark; it could have just as well been Carpal.

My Newest Dilemma

Tuesday, May 29th, 2007

Ok, I just had my birthday and I was given a hundred dollars in Bestbuy dollars, which got me thinking; I now can get a HD DVD player for only a hundred dollars(of my own money)! But then Microsoft just lowered the prices of the wireless racing wheel and Bestbuy has them on sale for 109, which would really only cost me nine dollars. But then that got me thinking, I have a Nintendo Wii that I haven’t touched since Febuary, so if I went and I sold it along with the games and accessories I have for it, add the Bestbuy dollars, I would probably only have to cough up max 200, more then likely 100-150 though. And if I took that route I would have a high-def dvd player and another videogame console. So with all this going on, I’m not sure what I should do, and this is why I am posting this here, to see what you all think. So do me a favor and help me make my decision for me.

What should Steve do?

Win a free copy of Lost Planet

Monday, May 28th, 2007

Gamers from all over now have the choice to choose their path to Lost Planet. You can choose to go through a casino in Las Vegas, or even the Las Vegas University while battling terrorist. Or you can trek your way through Mexico, where you’re the outsider and nobody wants you there. As the gamer, you have the option to choose how you get the copy of Lost Planet.

Please Choose either Rainbow Six: Vegas or Ghost Reacon Advance Warfighter 2. Which ever game has the majority of votes, will be the game the tournament is in. Once you have voted, please sign-up below by leaving your gamertag. Keep in mind that there maybe a chance your game is not the one the tournament is held in, so if you still want to play, please try to have a copy, or able to get a copy, of both.

The voting will go on for 2 weeks (June 11). At that point we will create the tournament and teams. Rules of the tournament and how it will work will be posted no later than Tuesday, May 29. I’m hoping for at least 48 players.

Thank you from all of us here at XBL Radio.

aaaarrrg! My BOOTY!

Saturday, May 26th, 2007

No seriously my booty is sore as hell after 3 hours plus of viewing
“As the Worlds End” turns.

I love Summer films. The Popcorn, the Block-Busters, the air conditioning…. However, lately I’ve never wanted to get out of the theater so bad. The latest installment of Gore Verbinski’s Disney-theme-park ride movie tie-in has left my treasure chest numb and I’m glad it’s over.

Johnny Depp returns with his Keith Richard’s imatation (this time actually bringing Keith along for support) as Jack Sparrow. The rest of the gang is there too. Where the past two films had thrill after thrill; this one places thrills in between a drama at sea sandwich. (and if thrill is the meat, your mouth is full of bread). It seems as if it took 30 minutes to get the movie back to interest level, and then another 30 to make you lose it.

I don’t want to spoil the film for XBL Radio listeners-I’ll leave that to the film-but I do want to warn you: If the game (which we will review soon) is anything like the movie; expect to be bored.

I will leave on one good note: The ending is amazing. It’s just the hours getting to it that made this movie a bad outing for my family and I.

I have read somewhere that Johnny Depp doesn’t watch his own work. Well thats 3 better hours, he has spent, in his life than mine!
