MAJOR FANBOY!

BUY ME!
So today I listened to Major Nelson’s Podcast (or should I say infomercial). I am so glad he has a podcast because it makes “Real Gaming Podcasts” shine. I pondered on writing this post for quite some time, but cringed on how it would be received? Would I piss off some fans? However, in the tradition of our cast, which is honest, I felt it is worth stating. Here is my issue.

1. Major Nelson was in awe at the larger HD. For us owners it costs us almost 700 to get it. Keep in mind we already purchased a 360. His remedy for us if we chose to purchase it al la cart is to trade it in at Gamestop. Wow, with their prices on month old 360 games we may be able to get lunch.

2. Major seems to be ecstatic about the color or the new Elite. Hmmm… he sure seemed to think the PS3 was unoriginal looking. (Remember I listen to all of his casts.) Now get this: It was also stated that to get the “true-black look”, new controllers have to be purchased.

3. They kept on comparing the price of the HDMI 360 to the PS3. However they never stated the lack of a HD-DVD player.

4. They said the hard drive is so expensive because of it being stand alone. Theirs is better because it comes with a cable and software and security. So we are to be happy because we have to pay to make sure it works. They also said they are not the manufactures of the drive so therefore they have to purchase it through a middle man.

So I ask: which would you rather have out of the box? An HDMI cable or a HD/Blue Ray drive included?

120 Gigs? In this day and age isn’t 120 gigs small? Also throwing out your other HD (or trading it in) seems terrible tech. I have bought many HD upgrades for my p.c.. I usually can use the smaller as a slave drive.

So why am I writing this? Because I am so tired of hearing bias talk from people who claim they are doing it for nothing but the love of gaming. Well I just finished listening to a 30 minute commercial for Microsoft, called Major Nelson. I would also say if he would like to come back on XBL Radio I would welcome it. However I am part of an indie-podcast, I pay for my games and my console. Therefore it would be a real ELITE conversation.

PSX

You may not have heard of the PSX, put out by Sony but in 2003 they put out their Sony media center, digital video recorder, and DVD player, and PlayStation 2 video game console. It was released in Japan on 12-13-2003 but ended there due to poor sales. It came with a 160 or a 250 GB hard drive to record TV, home movies, digital photos, or to play PS 2 titles. You were also able to link the PSX to your psp to transfer videos and music. Rumor has it that if you do have this system that it will link up with the PS3. The system is also know as the Sony Cross Media Bar (XMB).
