Tetris Coming to Xbox Live Arcade

Saturday, July 22nd, 2006

THQ’s financial filings reveal that the company is preparing to bring a port of the classic puzzle game to the Xbox 360’s Xbox Live Arcade.

THQ has acquired the rights to release the classic arcade puzzle game Tetris on the Xbox 360 in the US and Europe.

The news comes on the heels of a dispute between publisher THQ and The Tetris Company, which recently granted Nintendo the rights to develop its own DS-based version of the puzzle classic.

No release date is known, but it’s not likely to be far off. We’ll keep you posted.

Xbox 360 Pro Bundle Rumor by Dr Cogent Confirmed

Saturday, July 22nd, 2006

This so-called Xbox 360 Pro Bundle rumor is ripe for the pricking. If you’re not into rumor-mongering here’s the quick recap: MS is said to be on the verge of releasing a new Xbox 360 SKU on the first day of August. Dubbed as the Xbox 360 Pro Bundle, the new offering would include the Pro-level system plus a copy of Project Gotham Racing 3, a 3-month Xbox Live Gold subscription, and 1250 Xbox Live Marketplace points. So you can understand why even atheists have been praying for this Pro Bundle rumor to be confirmed by MS. In true MS fashion, the company refused to comment on the issue.

But atheist or not, you might find the info sent in to Gizmodo interesting. A Canadian guy who is supposedly working in a game store saw this on his store’s POS: “Xbox 360 PGR Bndl Price 499.99 Cdn.” That’s about US\$440. The tipster went on to say his company (which was not named) is offering its employees the Xbox 360 Plat less \$50. He thinks the new SKU and price drop is meant to clear some space for the arrival of the Platinum System bundle.

Being Canadian, you know Gizmodo’s tipster isn’t pulling some crazy stunt, right? But we are legally bound to classify this under “Rumors” until we hear it from the lips of those coy MS executives.
