Appearances can sometimes be deceiving, especially when it comes to the front cover of a video game. I felt this way as soon as i saw the case cover art for a game on the Wii called “The Monkey King: The Legend Begins”. I thought I was going to end up with a game similar to God of War, kind of like a hack and slash type of deal, oh boy was I wrong. This is an old school 2D side scrolling shooting game, but it is mediocre at best. Anyways, let us get right to the review, shall Wii.
First of all, the story is lame, predictable, and way too short. You can choose to either be Wukung Chen or Mei Mei, who are both training to be cloud masters (whatever that means), and fight your way through 6 different levels in order to save the world from cute pets who have turned into monsters (again, very boring and lame). There is no spoken dialogue in the game, instead there are just text scenes to explain the story. These are cheesy, and are not really needed because the premise is so simple to begin with. Let us move on to graphics and gameplay.
The graphics are refreshing and simple. Everything is presented in a side-scrolling 2D matter, which is nice to see, but at this point, games on the Wii need to look at the very least a little bit better than this. I honestly felt like I was playing a game on the SNES, do not get me wrong, the SNES was awesome, but if I wanted to play an SNES game, I would just play one of my virtual console games instead of wasting my time on this. The graphics can be summed up in one word, outdated.

The gameplay is a little too easy as well. you hold the Wii remote sideways, move with the d-pad up, down, left, and right, shoot your weapon with the 2 button, and that is about it. You can also tilt your Wii remote from side to side to tilt the screen, but this is neither a necessary task to accomplish in order to complete the game, or fun to do, it is more of just an addition that means nothing. You do also get special moves that you can use by pressing the 1 button, but you do not need them, simply because every enemy in the game can be defeated by holding down the 2 button to shoot your weapon until an enemy is defeated. The boss fights are a joke, and take about 30 seconds to complete each time, so the game is not much of a challenge either. If the boss fights were a little more difficult, and if there was more powerups to use, the gameplay might be exciting, but it is not.
If you are looking for a game with replay value, great graphics, and interesting gameplay, look elsewhere. I completed this game in less than an hour, and there ws nothing to do expect play the levels in an arcade mode, or race through each of the levels as fast as possible after I was done with it. With nothing to unlock from playing either of these modes, there is no reason to explore this game past the main quest. You can also play through this game with a friend, but I would not recommend it, mainly because your health bar is split into halves, when it should just be one full bar for each character, very disappointing.
My final verdict: Rent it, play it once, finish the game, then return it, and never look back. Even though it is only $9.99, i still cannot recommend it to anyone, there are just way too many problems with it.
Until next time gamers, this is B4 signing off

XBL Radio Warning : The views and opinions expressed in this article are solely those of the writer, and NOT of XBLRadio.com. >=P
At CES 09, Sony released a demo of PS3 games in 3D. Two minutes ago…… I pushed an elderly lady down a flight of stairs because of it, and will continue until this craziness ends.
I’m not interested in this at all. Call me friggin’ old school….but this really goes up my @*s sideways, along with all this Nintendo taking over the gaming universe just plainly robbing good people of money and laughing as they clean their rears with the game disks of IPs we want! WHAT IN GOOD GOD’S NAME IS GAMING COMING TO!?
“ Don’t knock it till you see it…..“
I don’t want to see it. It’s just another damn game gimmick they‘ll pound into the dirt. How many directions can you move your arms with the Wii-mote until EVERY single game on that console is the same? All you really need is a well-done single game in every genre and it’s off to the next gimmick . Tennis, bowling, pancake flipper, my first time masturbating…..all this will eventually get run into the ground and die….much like 3D.
Some games WILL be interesting, in 3D, when implemented properly; true. Sadly, we all know Sony is going to go full fledge 3D games and after a while….it’ll fall flat.
Not to mention, no one else can watch you play the game without glasses on or they’ll go into a seizure and die. So how many pairs of glasses do you own?
Just another way for companies to charge more money for product. How much more will this cost developers? Consumers?
If the glasses are free, they’ll be cheap and break after you sit on them coming back from the kitchen. How much for the expensive “ Oakley “ 3Ds?? PFFF! Come on! Wake up!
If this were a demo for a single 3D game…I’d be fine. I’d be interested. The problem is game publishers and companies are groping the casual gamers nuts until the casual gamer gets bored. Then they crawl back to the core gamers like we’re the fat throw back booty call.
See it as you may; to me this is just another way for Sony to make money on 3D TVs, glasses, and what have you. Much like this new generation…we run everything into the ground. From vocoder effects all over hip-hop to reality show after friggin’ reality show….
You know what…whatever.
I’m done.

Act Raiser was a 1990’s side-scrolling action platformer meets city builder meets multi-directional shooter with RPG elements. It looked great, played great; was long, fun, and had an excellent soundtrack………..in it’s time. Don’t get me wrong, I think it still ” holds up ” but you know these kids now a days. Hey what is up XBL Radio listeners, B4 here bring you the latest news as to what is going on in the gaming community.
I found an image on n4g.com today, that was released by the Kojima Productions website, and from the looks of it, it looks like that a new Metal Gear game should be on its way very soon. The only problem with this is from the looks of this image, it seems to me that the next title in the series will not be releasing on the PS3. A lot of speculation is taking place that this next game could release on the 360 because of the green lights and power button, on the Wii or DSi because of the exclamation points, on the ipod touch for the same reason, or on the PC because of the power button as well. There has also been speculation that this might have something to do with Metal Gear Acid, because of the exclamation points as well.
Whatever way you look at it, PS3 owners are set to be dissappointed this time around. The question that I pose is, are you excited that a new Metal Gear game is coming out, or are you disappointed that the franchise is not staying exclusive to the PS3?
Either way, I will let you, the gamers, make the call
Until next time gamers, this is B4 signing off
