Should I call my Bookie?

As you know, Aug 30 will be here before you can blink your eyes. That means College football is among us all. With that being said, I thought it would be cool to simulate a full season including the bowl game with NCAA 08 Football by EA with My Xbox 360.

All I did was pick a team, I went with the preseason #1 team (USC). Then I went to the last game for my team (USC) and checked simulate full season. After that it set up the bowl games and I chose to simulate all bowl games.

To say I was shocked on who it picked is a understatement. Boise State was picked to be the National Champs, come on they have a very very weak schedule. Even if they go undefeated, they wont be the 2008 National Champion. I will have to say my Xbox 360/NCAA 08 Football game got it wrong. What about your Xbox 360/NCAA 08 Football game will it be right. Go ahead and give it a try and post your results in our forums as well as your screen shoots.

If you have 2K Baseball, Madden, or any sport game that has a simulation mode try it out and give us your results in the forums.

Somewhere, Beyond the Sea…

Would you kindly enjoy Bioshock?

Bioshock doesn’t feel like a game, which is perhaps the finest praise a video game can receive. An “experience” is a more fitting description, for it succeeds at fully immersing you within the world it creates. This is an adventure that deserves to be taken, and one you won’t soon forget.

A plane crashes into the middle of the ocean, and one lone survivor discovers a mysterious lighthouse - a structure which serves as entrance to the underwater city of Rapture. Intended as an underwater utopia, where citizens could live without the oppressiveness of government, religion, and politics (the cause of all unrest), Rapture was a city of hope, where merit was earned and unjustly taken from no one, a haven for science, with the desire to improve the human species. This ideology, flawless though it may seem, failed to take into account humanities many faults, and Rapture crumbled into a city of violence, carnage, and desperation.

This is where Bioshock begins. Read the rest of this entry »

Demand on Charlieoscardelta.com is so high, not a lot are seeing this, so I’m posting it here as well for those who venture out of the COD.com land.

Alright guys, so here’s the deal. The Friends and Family portion of the beta has been going great, and we’re ready to let in the early first wave of CharlieOscarDelta members to help us start testing it out further. Since this is earlier than expected we’re going to do a special First Wave Beta Lotto to determine who will get an early chance at the Beta, don’t worry though, there are going to be many more waves of people let in after this. We decided to do email lotto so that it’s completely fair to all who enter.

Here’s how it’s going to work. Below we have an email you will need to send to us. Copy and paste the following email EXACTLY, fill in the answers, and send it to us. The lotto email will be open for 24 hours and that’s it. Then we’re shutting the sucker down, again, I remind you that if you don’t get in this first wave, DO NOT WORRY! This is just the first of many chances to get into the beta.

That’s it, that’s all you have to do to be eligible for the first wave. Copy and paste the text below into an email to firstwavelotto@beta.infinityward.com, fill in the answers and send it in. Make sure you copy and paste the text below EXACTLY otherwise your email may be lost. Now here’s the email:

A new use for your library card, to rent games?

Just yesterday, as I was looking for a story to write about, I came across an article that was very interesting. The article can be found on filefront.com and on milforddailynews.com. What I found out from reading it is that the Milford library, located in Milford Massachusetts, is now allowing children to check out older video games from their library.

Now, I probably know what most of you are thinking, why video games at the library, what form of learning will children get out of that? We only go to libraries to check out books, tapes, or DVD movies, but never video games. According to video game consultant Beth Gallaway, there is more to it than that.

Beth Gallaway

Here is what she said:

“[Critics] aren’t recognizing that video games themselves are literary,” Gallaway said in the article, “I think in general we need to stop being format snobs.”

She also said that critical thinking, finding information, organizing and evaluating that information, as well as the utilization of that information are all a part of video games. They follow the structure of a novel, with a story, characters, and a plot.

artist

So what does this mean to us as a gaming community? Will video games finally be considered an art form? Or, as always, be looked at as a waste of time. I guess until many more libraries start to do this, only then, it will be taken more seriously. But until that time we will continue to have to deal with the same BS like we always do.

Just something to think about gamers, until next time, this is B4 signing off.

Take care,

B4

I am back!

Yes thats right, just got back from my summer vacation from the beach man did it fly by. But don’t sweat it, I took my 360 with me and played allot of NCAA 08 against my brother-in law, which was fun, but the bad thing was, that he blocked a punt from my end zone and was able to score a touch down against me, I still won. But the reason is was a bad thing is that I did not get the appropriate achievement for that.
On 07 I tried like h}// to get that 1 but was unable 2 do so. So for him to block a punt on me, well it hurt just a little. It did not give me the achievement because the second controller was signed in as a guest. If it would have given me the achievement I would have taken it in a heart beat. O well I guess I will have to keep on trying. Other than that got in over 200 miles on the road bike (lots of fun) and just took it easy on the beach if you want to see some pit just check out my flickr page. http://flickr.com/photos/sulprizio/ Take care and see ya on the 360

Its only a matter of time,

till it happens to you!!!

Remember that post about a year ago when I earned my first Red Ring of Death Achievement? Well almost a year later it happened again. Yes, I was able to earn it again. I brought a friend over to show him how cool Bioshock looked and sure enough, those glorious red lights started flashing before his and my eyes. So instead of him seeing how great Bioshock looked we saw how awesome the red lights looked. “Wow!, this was amazing,” he said. And you know what makes this worse? PAX, the Penny Arcade Expo is going on this week and I have all sorts of people that are staying at my place. This put me in a pretty big bind, I could either send my 360 off for repair and wait hopefully no more then 3 weeks and have no 360 this week when everyone is at my place OR I could go out today and pick up a new 360 (that way I have one this week), and then send my broke one to MS for repair only to wait to sale it once it comes back. Guess which one I picked? I’ll give you a hint, I got a free HDMI cable for it!!!(But no damn transfer cable). So I want to thank Microsoft for putting me and everyone else through this garbage, please on your next console that you make, put more testing into it so we are not having to send these damn things off to repair every 6-12 months. For you to put your customers through this nonsense is total garbage.
