Steve Makes a Appearance on GamerAndy Live!

It’s a veritable cornucopia of co-hosts, as Andy, Hawkes, Edie and Steve519 (from XBLRadio) initially intend to talk up this week’s gaming news but instead delve deep into what we think is a growing plague on the landscape of podcasting: Corporate Lapdoggery. Yes, this is the episode where we pretty much rip apart Microsoft’s MVP program and pretty much expect we’ll be banned from all Microsoft events from now on.

We didn’t want to do it, but it had to be done. What can I say, kids, after months and months of everyone thinking it, someone had to pipe up and say the emperor has no clothes.

Just be warned, we’ll say a lot of stuff that will make us enemies, but we believe we are firmly on the side of truth, fairness, and the open exchange of information. We believe that you should be able to trust podcasts—any podcast—as much as you trust your local newspaper. Is that too much to ask? And even though we’ll probably take a lot of heat for this, we’d rather be dead right than alive and wrong.

AND!! There’s a contest for Halo2 and Shadowrun for Vista and Stalker for the PC (XP or Vista). Just listen before the first break and the end of the show to find out how to win!

Hey MS, throw us a bone!

   Â

I play a lot of games, as an XBL Radio host, for the good of the show. I really enjoy trying out all of the different types of game-play from one genra to another. However, most of us gamers are specific to one type of game. Be it first-person shooters, strategy, MMO, RTS, or casual arcade fare. Let’s face it: in this day and age of so many consoles and so many choices, something is going to get looked over. That something amounts to sales for game developers. Here is an idea:

Each game you put into your disc tray is an automatic 10 Gamerpoints. No matter how long you play. Each Demo you try-out is worth 5 Gamerpoints. To me it makes sence. There are many times that I have a big fat “0″ on my scorecard. This would at least remedy that issue. The bigger issue however is getting us to try something different. It would’nt amount to much, however it would show other gamers that you are an open-minded gamer and that you speak from expierience. It would also promote gamers to rent, demo, or borrow games in order to try other venues.

In the end; Â It may not be something on everyones mind, but it is a feature that promotes positive gaming in everyway.

It’s Nintendo’s turn to brag

Nintendo Reports that over five million DS owners have connected via WiFi, worldwide. Those users have engaged in more than 200 million sessions of gameplay since the service was introduced in November 2005. More than 60 titles, including Mario Kart DS and Animal Crossing: Wild World offer WiFi connected gameplay.

“Nintendo DS gamers globally use Nintendo WiFi Connection as an easy, fun place to find fellow players, all without paying anything extra for the service,” said Nintendo of America president Reggie Fils-Aime. “The milestones represent millions of hours of fun and camaraderie despite miles between players.”

If Sony and Nintendo continue to flaunt their (free) online services, maybe this could pressure Microsoft into finally offering Gold service at no charge? Hey, I think I saw that Devil at Dillard’s looking for a Winter jacket. But it was far and kinda dark; it could have just as well been Carpal.

For more details: read Gamasutra’s report
