Child protection questions

Thursday, October 12th, 2006

Hey everyone, I’m going to write a REAL article soon about what has been done, what is going to be done and what should be done to help protect kids online and what parents should know and what they can do.

But I wanna know what you wanna learn about this subject or if you have any ideas about what can help.

So please fill me in with questions, comments or concerns. I’m planning to also be getting a hold of MS about this so if you have ideas or questions for them let me know and I will do what I can.

You can discuss this here or in our forums at this topic http://www.xblradio.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=348

Safety is No Game. Is Your Family Set?

Thursday, October 12th, 2006

Microsoft is launching a 20-city bus tour called “Safety is no game. Is your family set?” that will provide hands-on training and education on video games, including how to understand ESRB ratings, and how to take advantage of Xbox 360 Family Settings.

DigDug Coming to the Xbox Live Arcade!

Tuesday, October 10th, 2006

And be sure NOT to download it, that’s right don’t get it. Do you wanna know why I’m telling you not to get it? Its because WE need to tell Microsoft that enough is enough. Enough of these retro rehashes, Enough nickel and dimeing us, Enough of it all. If my counting is correct we have had 4 that right 4 new games for us on the Xbox Arcade, 4 out of 31. Every single other game has been remakes. Our newest game to come out was Totem Ball (which was free and we all know why) and before that was Cloning Clyde. Every thing else has been old games ported over to the 360 with achievements and enhanced graphics put into it and those don’t make always make the game enjoyable. I have my beliefs why all these retro games are coming out, and for those of you I’ve talked to know what I think is the reason why, but I’m not going to say it here.Remember way back when MS was telling us that the Xbox Arcade was going to be one of the difference makers in the next gen because it will allow us to get all these new games that smaller developers create but normally couldn’t get them out there because of the extremely high production costs for new games (Gears of War cost nearly 10 million to make), they were telling us that we (Xbox 360 gamers) would have this new place to go to try out all these new games and try new ip’s. But where are they? We have been told that developers are lining up to get there games to the Xbox Live Arcade, but again, where are they? Or are these retro games the games that the developers were lining up for? This is why I urge you NOT to download DigDug or any other game until we see the Arcade Marketplace improve. This is the ONLY way that Microsoft will hear us and work on this situation. So please help me boycott this and any other future retro games until this has been resolved.

BTW, I own EVERY one of the Indie games on there, all 4.

Jack Thompson Threatens 19 year old with Lawsuit and Gets Out-Lawyered

Tuesday, October 10th, 2006

From our friends over at GamerAndy.com

Best headline ever. Thank God there’s no limit on that box. You can’t make this stuff up, people.

Don’t mistake this for another funny bit of fake news like my last piece; Sony summoning demonic chipsets is fake news. Jack Thompson is non-news. The commonality therein is that they are both spasmodically hilarious.

That’s right, folks, I came back from a couple days ‘away from keyboard,’ as the kids call it, to find this shimmering nugget emerging from my inbox. My day sparkled with joy from moment my eyes met the return address, and I was giddy as a little girl by the time I finished the last words.

Come, gentle reader, and enjoy it with me.

It may take awhile to download, so just press pause, leave your page open, and come back in 20 minutes. Now if only Trey and Matt played HALO!

The line between reality & Gaming is narrowing…

Sunday, October 1st, 2006

With the advent of the new camera for the 360, released this week, gaming may get a whole lot more personal. Until recently; most of us gamers were anonymous. Hiding behind our avatars and screen names. Now, instead of my friends list being filled with team mascots, game characters, and other lost MS point purchases, I see real faces. Even games are beginning to incorporate players real life personas into the game. So I ask: Is this good, or are we forgetting why we were so anxious to game online in the first place? ANONYMITY for some, and others used their aliases to do the things that only a shot of Tequila would have allowed them to do in the past.

What do you think? Let us know on our forums.
