Super Smash Bros Brawl Delayed

Monday, October 15th, 2007

Characters from SSBB

That’s right! According to an article I found on gamerevolution.com, the video president of marketing for Nintendo of America, George Harrison, made the announcement at a media summit in San Francisco. Super Smash Bros. Brawl is one of the most anticipated games for the Wii (especially this holiday) and the sequal to the smash hit Super Smash Bros. Melee. He announced that the release date of this game will be delayed until February 10, 2008, a delay of almost two months from the original street date.

Now what does this say to us as members of the gaming community? Well, I personally have played the previous installments of this fighter on the N64 and Gamecube, and I wanted to see what this game had to offer this December. Guess I’ll will have to wait. I’m really stoked about trying out the new characters, Sonic and Solid Snake, as well as take a crack at the Online Multiplayer. Weather it’s new features being added, or problems with the game, I hope they fix them soon. I do not think we should have to wait any longer, especially for a game like this, to be released.

Fighting

For those of you looking to unleash some aggression with Nintendos most famous characters this Winter, you will have to wait a while to do so. Let us hope Super Mario Galaxy, Super Smash Bros. Melee, and Mariokart Wii will hold us over for the time being.

Until next time gamers, this is B4 signing off
Take care,

Review - Big Brain Academy: Wii Degree

Thursday, October 4th, 2007

Wii Degree cover

Now as you may know, I am an avid fan of sports games and First-Person Shooters; but, I came across a game, that lately, I have found fun and interesting. Big Brain Academy: Wii Degree.

Since there is no story, let me give you the lowdown as to what is going on here. You enroll as a student at the Big Brain Academy and your first task is to take a practice test to measure your “brain weight”. Dr. Lobe tells you what areas you need to practice in to improve on your test, and boom, you are now a student at the Academy.

To sum up the game play, you practice for your tests, take tests and compete against others in a few mini-games. That is about it. Let us see how this games stacks up, shall Wii?

Casual Gamer = $

Wednesday, September 12th, 2007

The Wii is for casual gamers? If you only play the Wii, you’re not a hard core gamer? Who knows? But those type of statements have crossed gaming sites, podcasts (including ours) and print all over the gaming world. But there is one thing for sure. The Wii makes money.

“Today, the Financial Times reported that the three-way race between the next-generation consoles has a new frontrunner. Citing cumulative sales data through the end of July, the British newspaper’s Japanese correspondent is claiming that the Nintendo Wii has now sold more units worldwide than the Xbox 360, despite the latter’s year-long head start.

According to the Times, approximately 9 million Wiis were purchased across the globe as of July 31, just barely overtaking the 360’s 8.9 million units sales during the same period. Both platforms were far ahead of the PlayStation 3, which sold only around an estimated 3.7 million units internationally.”

Guitar Hero III online play confirmed for Wii, and much more!

Monday, September 10th, 2007

It is that time again, ladies and gentlemen, for yet another news update. I have alot to get through, so let us get started.

Now until recently, I have not been a fan of the Guitar Hero series, and I’ll briefly tell you why. It is not because I hate the price of the game, the songs, or the boss battles. It is simply for the fact that I was timid to step into this new genre of gaming. When I did eventually get a chance to play this rockin’ title, I found out how much fun I was missing out on.

After sitting around this weekend looking for a story to write about, something caught my eye that I could not let get away. I have found out from articles posted on filefront.com, and on gamerevolution.com, that the first Guitar Hero to be released for the Wii will include online play. It will not however, include Downloadable Content at this time. For what reason I am not sure of, but here is what a representative from Red Octane had to say about it.

Guitar hero gameplay

“There will, in fact, be Online gameplay for the Wii when Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock launches in late October. However, there will not be Downloadable content available on the Wii at launch. That, we are still working with Nintendo on.”

DLC or no, I’m still excited to see how this game will do on the Wii.

After looking through some articles on gamespot.com the other day, I found out some more interesting info about this game. One of these articles talked about the bosses that we will face in Guitar Hero III. Here is a short list:

Bret Michaels
1. Bret Michaels, lead singer from Poison: You face him in the second boss battle in the game.

Tom Morello
2. Tom Morello, lead guitarist from Rage Against The Machine: He is the third boss that you will face in the game.

Slash
3. Slash, lead guitarist from Guns n’ Roses: Not sure which boss fight he is, but it is said that he will be a part of the rhythm game for Guitar Hero III.

Redoctane.com has info about the prices for the bundles for each system, and also about what extra items are included in these bundles. Both the Xbox 360 and PS3 bundles will be priced at $109.99, and the Wii Bundle will be priced at $99.99. And here is a list of what each bundle includes (other than the game and the guitar, which is wireless):

1. Custom faceplate
2. Dual Gig Bag: Not sure what this means
3. T-shirt
4. Custom 2″ wide strap
5. Keychain
6. Sticker Pack

For more info on these bundles, visit redoctane.com. I cannot wait for this game to come out so I can rock out with the best of them. Until next time, take care gamers, and ROCK ON!

My Newest Dilemma

Tuesday, May 29th, 2007

Ok, I just had my birthday and I was given a hundred dollars in Bestbuy dollars, which got me thinking; I now can get a HD DVD player for only a hundred dollars(of my own money)! But then Microsoft just lowered the prices of the wireless racing wheel and Bestbuy has them on sale for 109, which would really only cost me nine dollars. But then that got me thinking, I have a Nintendo Wii that I haven’t touched since Febuary, so if I went and I sold it along with the games and accessories I have for it, add the Bestbuy dollars, I would probably only have to cough up max 200, more then likely 100-150 though. And if I took that route I would have a high-def dvd player and another videogame console. So with all this going on, I’m not sure what I should do, and this is why I am posting this here, to see what you all think. So do me a favor and help me make my decision for me.

Games for GI’s

Tuesday, May 1st, 2007

What is the one of the biggest holidays of the year? Memorial Day. What’s so cool about it? Well, while many people like it because of the 4 day weekend or because it signals that summer is near, Memorial Day is a day that we are to remember all those that gave their life fighting for this country and what they believe in. This day is also about thinking of those that are risking their lives overseas every day. So here at XBL Radio, we decided to hold a game drive for these awesome and sometimes forgot about troops.
