No offense guys but i dont think XBL radio is the best podcast. You guys are cool (some cooler than others) but i think there some podcasts that are better. Personally my fav podcast is the old Widget. Its not as serious as yours and its a mature podcast. But man i laugh so hard every time i listen. Not that Carpals jokes arent funny.

Yeah he was a little cockeyed but he was all right.

Hey, I just want to go on record by saying: Do Not Vote For Us.

Save your votes for podcasts that want to be number 1. I am satisfied with doing a quality show, that has many different shows. Yes the Widget is often funny, (I quit listening after I felt most content was more obnoxious than witty). I am a big fan of Indie Podcasts, and I am a PODCATSER, so I know (from expierience) that these thing just becoming pissing contests. Usually the cast that promotes the heaviest is the victor. I seldom pander, and I am not a big fan of AWARDS.

The Grammys (usually dont care to listen to any of the Artists)
The Oscars (Many times the best movies are overlooked)
Game Awards (If it isn’t popular, it isn’t mentioned)

So go ahead and VOTE. But XBL Radio (mentioned or not) will continue to give you news, and a crafted podcast that hopefully you will continue to listen too.

Carpal I’ve been a fan of many podcasts and there are alot that might be popular but in my opinion these awards is not about winning but just having fun. Help each other by doing links exchange so others can check you or them out. If you go to Gamerscoreblog.com and read the award post on the frontpage. What we sent them a link to every site that are nominated for 2006.

We are not getting money out of this and GTR has many subcribers with or without the awards we get new listeners each day. I personally think people should vote for you or any other podcasts because all of us been working hard this year. No matter how hard GTR been working with the awards there’s always something wrong and people complaining about it. Anyways keep up the great work guys laters!

  6. MrCarpalTunnel Says:

I wasnt being critical of your AWARDS Godfree. I am just of the opinion that all awards do is cause further seperation between small indie podcasts. I am all for bringing the community together, but I have seen what happens when certain shows are forced to compete with each other. Like look at our first post on this blog for example:

We stated vote for the best, our first reply is “No offense guys but i dont think XBL radio is the best podcast”

That doesnt help our show at all. It further sepearates us from our audience, and does nothing usefull for the show. Its like High School all over again: You have the Prom Queen (and almost always, all the girls can’t stand her)

  7. Rusty Ranchero Says:

I respect Carpal’s opinion very much and he is right. The weeds will certainly spring up during the party. But you can’t say there are no good things to come out of this.

Are the winners really the best? It doesn’t matter, it’s all for fun and a great way to get extra recognition. If we get JUST ONE POTENTIAL new listener from all of this, I think it’s worth it.

I’m happy to promote this event as I think it offers excitement to the community. I’ll even suggest to people to go vote for their FAVORITES in all the catagories, not specifically to vote for us. I’m personally very flatter that we are nominated and I’ll be keeping my eye out for the results. Props to Godfree and the GTR staff for administering this event.
