I gotta comment on the Halo/Peter Jackson news…It sounds like you guys didn’t realize that a director has already been chosen.
It was announced back in August that Niell Blomkamp will be directing the Halo movie, with Peter Jackson serving as executive producer. Of course, that means that he can skirt any blame if the movie goes bad, but c’mon…it’s Peter Jackson. I don’t think he expects this movie to fail.
I was hesitant at first, but I think Blomkamp has an interesting, verite style and definitely knows how to handle special effects. You can see some of his work in commercials and short films…

Neill Blomkamp is the director of Halo. Watch “Alive in Joburg” on Youtube to get an idea on how he tells a story and the visual effects.

Capn and Headin, the hyperlinks in your comments threw them into moderation. Sorry for the delay to post em, but now we got ‘em! Thanks for all those links and the info! I agree, Peter Jackson is not gonna let the largest “Game to Movie” ever, become another Super Mario Bros!
Carpal and Steve, great show. I’m surprised you guys got along as well as you did. Great outtakes. Would love to see another show with you and Steve again.

You are right I forgot about that, however my main point was Jackson isnt directing. Hes just overseeing production.
From what I heard, this is on IMDB:
Halo (2008)
Directed by
Neill Blomkamp
Writing credits
D.B. Weiss (screenplay) and
Alex Garland (screenplay)
Plot Outline: After they crash-land on an artificial ring-world called “Halo”, a marine captain, his surviving marines, and a genetically-and-surgically-enhanced supersoldier called “Master Chief” must find out what the Covenant, the genocidal alien race they are at war with, are looking for on the ring. However, Halo holds more secrets than either side imagined.
Production Notes/Status:
Status: Pre-production
Comments: Rumor has it Alex Garland’s script will not be used and D.B. Weiss is working on a story draft
Status Updated: 17 July 2006
Note: Since this project is categorized as being in production, the data is subject to change; some data could be removed completely.
Country: USA / New Zealand
Language: English
Color: Color
Trivia: Producer Peter Jackson asked Guillermo del Toro to helm the movie, but del Toro turned the offer down so he could direct Hellboy 2: The Golden Army (2008).

Super Mario Bros has to be the best game I\’ve ever played. My wife is banned from it cause she can\’t stop playing it.
