New Developer? Big Brother Game Studios

We’ve all heard of starving arts. Well what about starving game developers? It looks like that may be the new phrase in the UK. The French already have a tax credit of 20% off the total cost up to $3.91 million a year for a game with a cultural value. It looks like there are more to come in the UK.

My question, is this a good thing? Could we see games change over time, if the government is able to get their hand in on the action? Who knows we may even see a game where the French save London.

No Xbox 360 Price Drops Announced

I have to say, its a little disappointing to me that the price has not dropped. It could really help the 360 on the console war while at the same time hurting the other two systems but oh well I guess. (maybe they haven’t dropped price because they need to recoup all that lost money from all the broken 360’s that we have had)

as per GSB:

We’ve seen the coverage from Bloombergreporting a price drop by this holiday, and since I haven’t heard anything about a price drop, I thought I’d go right to the source. I asked David Hufford to clarify, and he sent me an email, and told me I could share it.

David writes (my emphasis and links):

“Some are getting really spun up about the Bloomberg story and inaccurately reading tea leaves that don’t exist. I spoke to Bloomberg nearly two months ago and we were talking about NPD data that had just been released, and chatting generally about price points of consoles in the market. The comment, which is accurately reported, unfortunately has now been taken way out of context and being reported as if I am signaling a price drop. I was not, I am not.

With Xbox 360s selling well at their current price point, Elites selling out at $479, and an insanely great portfolio of games in the market, there’s no reason to announce any kind of price drop anytime soon.

BTW, what’s up with the picture in Kotaku? What was I, like 12? Huff.”

Steve Makes a Appearance on GamerAndy Live!

Posted by Steve519

June 6th, 2007

It’s a veritable cornucopia of co-hosts, as Andy, Hawkes, Edie and Steve519 (from XBLRadio) initially intend to talk up this week’s gaming news but instead delve deep into what we think is a growing plague on the landscape of podcasting: Corporate Lapdoggery. Yes, this is the episode where we pretty much rip apart Microsoft’s MVP program and pretty much expect we’ll be banned from all Microsoft events from now on.

We didn’t want to do it, but it had to be done. What can I say, kids, after months and months of everyone thinking it, someone had to pipe up and say the emperor has no clothes.

Just be warned, we’ll say a lot of stuff that will make us enemies, but we believe we are firmly on the side of truth, fairness, and the open exchange of information. We believe that you should be able to trust podcasts—any podcast—as much as you trust your local newspaper. Is that too much to ask? And even though we’ll probably take a lot of heat for this, we’d rather be dead right than alive and wrong.

AND!! There’s a contest for Halo2 and Shadowrun for Vista and Stalker for the PC (XP or Vista). Just listen before the first break and the end of the show to find out how to win!
