If they can't bring that same level of quality to a browser, well then they should wait until they can.

good point other guy, even downloadable content failed on the first try (with sega)....and on this issue:

Props to Microsoft for keeping that crap off of the 360, it leaks in enough as it is; i'm sure we've all been in an xbl game where mods were used against us. _________________

Oh is that right? I'm well aware, doesn't change the fact that their console is way to secure to provide a solid browser as of now. The argument isn't whether I want something, just they should not provide it right now, since it would be handicapped. _________________

True, but considering that IE is only just now catching up to other browsers on the market, I wouldn't say that MS has done much to foster web browser development and innovation. Over the last several years, MS has done more to hinder standards-based web development with IE than it has to help it, regarding valid XHTML and CSS rendering, user security and even newer features like RSS and tabbed-browsing support.
That and WebTV (which I'm sure this would ultimately resemble) was just horrible.
I really don't want, or more importantly, need a web browser on my 360. Yes, having the option is good, but considering that it would probably use a lot of the console's resources, I'd rather it was a separate download and certainly not integrated into the 360 OS, so I can choose not to have it.
Here's an interesting question: Would you still want a web browser if it costs MS Points? _________________ Player One Podcast - http://playerone.libsyn.com |

I have to side with TOG on this. They are MS, they have the knowledge to offer all the best with thier system. It isn't that they are afraid to half-ass it. The Marketplace launched without being fully functional. Hell we had camera enabled games section for several months before a camera even came out.
The fact is as long as we dont have choices to view what we want on the 360, then they can tell us what they want us to view. I doubt that most would care about most of the "Artists of the Month" but since MS places it on your startup Blade, many users will click it. It is a captive audience.
However, when compitition hits the next-gen consoles, we will see new features on the 360. (1080/HD DVD/More Arcade Titles) So don't kid yourself that MS is waiting for a perfected browser, that has never stopped them before (Windows ME/IE/). _________________
I hope MS doesn't have much input on the production of HALO the MOVIE. If so we wont get the sound, in the theatre, unless we pay xtra for it at the ticket booth! |

On the micro transaction topic this is my opinion on it.
On the other versions of tiger woods they have all the codes for free... The programmers left it out because they wanted to make some more money. Soon enough you will be spending $60 on an incomplete game and the real cost of the game is $100+. Imagine your playing a game that is way too hard but there is a gun on the marketplace that will kill all the enemies in the game easier, it will ruin the experience of the game. I feel sorry for the ps3 owners because there will be A LOT more micro transactions based on the fact that there online is "free". |

Just because something is free, doesn't mean people are going to try and micro transaction them to death (XBOX users pay MS for the service not the publishers, they make nothing off it either way).
Perhaps the first party titles will do a good amount on PS3 but the 3rd party stuff I'm sure will have the same micro transactions across the board. _________________

all good points guys...no matter what some of us want these things to do, nothing will ever be perfect...none of the 3 will have EVERYTHING we want...we spend a lot of money on these things, and i know that is where a lot of the rumbles come from, but let's be honest...There is a reason why there are 3 consoles...they all have a little bit for someone... _________________
