So, if you like what you hear and would like us to keep it, let us know, we’re interested in what you think and we want to provide you, the gamers with the most information we can possibly give you. Oh, and if you have any ideas for names, let us know, we just might use it…if it’s okay with you of course.

Update: The audio announcement for the contest is underneath the podcast post at the bottom of this blog post. You will see a link in big blue letters that says xbl radio giveaway. Click on on that to find out more about the contest. I cannot believe i said 3 year, when i meant to say 3 month, oh well, at least the written description I have will clear up that little problem.
Around the games journalism industry over the last two years there have been whispers of the impending death of the Electronic Entertainment Expo. Yet, like an injured racehorse, the annual L.A. event seems to be holding in there. While it certainly isn't the mass conglomerate of Gamestop employees and blog writers that it once was, E3 still serves an important purpose for gamers around the world. This year’s Expo brought with it the announcement of FFXIII for the 360, a new “Xbox Experience” and an unexpected PS3 price cut (that isn’t really a price cut.) However, the biggest bombshell at E3 was Bungie’s yanked announcement of the new Halo game. Even with the increased media coverage on G4 and every gaming website out there, E3 just didn’t seem like the place to drop big game announcements this year. Now, don’t get me wrong; I think the press conference system works quite well for E3’s current format, but it needs some tweaks. The biggest problem this year (and I’m sure most hardcore gamers will agree) was the push for bringing the “mainstream” market into gaming. I don’t get it… Xbox 360 was once THE hardcore gaming console of this generation. Now it’s the Nintendo copycat, with a looming dashboard redesign that incorporates blatant rip-offs of the Nintendo Mii avatars, as well as persistent rumors of multiple motion controllers just over the horizon. What will E3 bring us next year? My guess is not much. I’m betting studios will leave it to PAX and Comic-Con to build hype for games among the hardcore crowd. That could leave E3 in the realm of persistent mainstream focused content. Just imagine having to sit through an announcement of a new Wii Music every year. Sure, outlets like CNN and the New York Times will be happy to report on new games for grandmothers and toddlers. Meanwhile, 1Up and IGN will begin to see E3 as second tier to public events. E3 has at least one more chance to iron out the wrinkles, but if they can’t get it right next year, don’t expect to see E3 ’10.
Hey everybody! Sorry about my late night oops in forgetting Mr B4's audio. I meant to attach it to the end of the show. Hope you guys enjoy the little update show.
nice X3R0… anyways.. couple great entries so far.. keep them coming. Great idea B4 THX
you got mine through email, you scared me there, right after I sent in my entry, the post was taken down, but I'm glad to see the contest wasn't cancelled or something.
Its always good to see reports on what is happening in gaming and I thought MS did the best in this area and they got me excited more about some upcoming titles. Nintendo was a 2nd for me, followed by poor Sony. I’m sorry, but Sony bored me beyond belief and its only MAG that caught my eye. I wish E3 was accessible more to the public, but I guess that is why they have PAX. I would like to see the big three focus a lot more on their games then showing off their numbers. I think reporting your numbers can be done at anytime. I more interested in upcoming titles and seeing some actual game play action. In that respect I think MS showed us a lot more and has a very full line up of games ahead for them. I guess E3 gave me a little push to become a Wii owner now too and I love their family friendly titles they offer and think my kids will enjoy Animal Crossing. As much as the idea of MAG sounds cool, I can’t see myself getting a PS3 anytime soon and thanks to MS, I’ll get to check out Final Fantasy XIII now on the Xbox 360. Keep up the good work and shows XBL Radio!
I only own a 360, so that is the only thing I really payed attention to closely, but I would have to say that E3 was a success. Alot of new features for the 360 and some new game announcements made Microsoft’s press conference awesome, and watching all the new games being demoed on the show floor was exciting. I think the fact that it was invite only was good because there was a lot of coverage around the web and we didn’t really need anymore. Good job XBL Radio, can’t wait for the next podcast.
