This F*&$in game F*&$ing Blows (and how I really feel)

I just wanted to give all our listeners a heads-up.
This game SUCKS!
I’m a huge fan of the FPS. In recent weeks us FPS die-hards have been blessed. With Halo3, COD4, and several other games it seems the FPS genra didn’t need a shot of adreneline. However, Kane and LYNCH brings that and not much more to the platform.
The story is your usual “I’m a bad-ass mofo” shoot-em up. However this game doesn’t even reach the guilty pleasure aspect. It’s just GUILT that you will have for playing it. The main characters are so vile you won’t be rooting for yourself, let alone care about their outcome. Resevoir Dogs credits had more style.
Gameplay is awkward at best. After playing such well crafted titles in the past weeks it’s hard to go back to a game with this much of an uncontrollable feel. Even the so called tutorial doen’t do a good job of getting the rythem down. How can it? It feels like GTA without the GRAND!
I also would like to comment on the dialouge. They said, at PAX, this was an homage to Tarintino. Damn this is how you pay tribute? There were so many “F” bombs, I started shouting them back at the game for making me listen. I mean I love Tarantino, I don’t mind cursing, but come on starting a sentence with Fu*$ and then ending it with FU*$ is proof you had nothing to say. It was torture to “F’n” listen to.
In closing I just wanted to do an early review of my first impressions. I’ve only played for several hours so far, so this is far from over. It may get better. However I don’t want any of you to go out of your way to rent or buy this game and not know what I know. KANE should get LYNCHED!
Most other pod casts have been raving about this game. So it great to hear an honest opinion.
Now that i have COD4 i don’t want anything else.
Ill watch Kane and LYNCH on you tube.

I think your view of the game is unfair since you have not even played through a third of the game.(I looked at your gamer card) I will say this game is not without its faults, and I know the type of person you are Carpal and this game is not for you. The way this game is made I don’t think morally you could like this game its just you. Anyway, check out The Gamers Pub next week Carpal to see what I thought. I’m not going to rave it as the best thing in the world, I just don’t think its a Sh1t sandwich either.
As you are a friend of mine Gui J I will be as tactfull as I can with my reply:
I don’t have to eat a whole rotten apple so I can say (after I’m done) the apple was rotten. Unless this game changes in Graphics, Storyline, Gameplay, Voice Acting, AI, Controlls, Online Play, and lets even throw in Box Art (just goofin on the Box Art it was o.k..) I won’t be impressed.
However I stand by my post. I said this is an early review. Since I know that there might be a chance someone would want to know what I think; I posted now rather than wait for 2 weeks when the new shows out. I did this because with so many great games out some people have limited time and budgets.
I would like to think XBL Radio has some resposibility to be candid and helpful to it’s listeners.
That doesn’t mean that you can’t like it. But it also doesn’t mean my opinion isn’t Fair. Pehaps it’s not fair to you or the game developer. But I’m not trying to get a date with you or a game from them.
I’m trying to voice my HONEST FAIR OPINIONS.
Oh and I did not understand why this game wouldnt be for me. I love Tarantino (have all his films) I love FPS and I love gaming. This game isn’t for me because of execution of those elements. PREY and The Godfather had as much violence and launguage in them and I reviewed them well.
This game isn’t bad because of some moral issue. It’s bad because of a gameplay issue!

I can totally see some of your points being very, very, valid. But like I said I dont think its a bad game by any means, it is just hard to give this game a fair shake in a month that brings us, COD4, Mass Effect, Rock Band, Assasins Creed, Mario Galaxy…
And why do you keep calling third person games FPS’s you did that with Gears also?

Because I’m not a fully fledged nerd. But I do know what STFU with my FPS mistakes means. LOL
dang it! I wanted this to be a good game, but I trust carpal and his opinion. I will try it sometime in the future but with no online co-op i just don’t need another single player game at the moment. And if the MP has only 4 maps what is the point, oh and the maps are levels from the game. wft!
everyone has different taste and i thank you, carpal for being honest (unlike some other indie, but sponsored podcasts) & saving me $60!
Well after playing this game a few, and like Carpal, this is an early impression, I don’t think this game is all that great. The dialoge sounds like a 12 year old playing Halo. I’m 27 and don’t mind saying or hearing the language, but it sounds like they were trying too hard make the characters look and sound “hard.” And about that, don’t you think Kane as more intelligence than that of a 12 year old. Come on, he has 2 kids, married, moved over seas to get away from his past life, so he has to have atleast a decent IQ.
Now as far as the shooting aspect. That could have been done a little better. You guys did Lara Croft, so you guys should have the basics of shooting down by now. If I aim at a guys leg, I should be able to hit it, and not the wall he is standing next to. I would understand that issue if it was a windy day, but the game shows no wind.
And now about the AI. Well…you know what, I’m going to save all of this for the next show. But I will try to keep and open mind to this, maybe, just maybe it will get better. So tune in to ver 57.0 to find out my final thoughts about this game.
Thanks Carpal for letting us know about this, I’m still going to check this game out but with your thoughts on it and with what the guys at sarcastic gamer had to say, I’m going to be going into this game with low expectations.
But with all the great games that are out this one won’t hurt me to overlook it.
I think it only one GOTY out of people that were flown out there.
Anyone who gives this game GOTY over such games as Bioshock, COD4, and Mass Effect doesn’t deserve to give any more titles like GOTY away anymore.
And I don’t know if the language effected Carpals view but if I had kids his age it would mine. You have to remember things, like your point of view, change with kids and this seems to be one game that you REALLY don’t want your kids around, along with a game like Saints Row.

I played this game over at Carpals House, I am just glad that this games not linked 2 my gamer tag. It suck big green ones. Gui J It looks like that u like everything that comes out on the 360 now. What a Fan Boy. If you would have played this game on the PS3 you would have trashed it.

If you can not give a game a fair review cause what else is out on the market pleas do us all a big favor and don’t give us your take.
As a podcaster you should be able to review a game on its on credentials not some other games credentials.
Maybe it’s because I had just finished playing Soldier of Fortune–which is the worst game I’ve played all year by a wide margin–but K&L wasn’t particularly awful to me. It was in no way memorable, mind you, but I think the storyline is interesting enough and the visuals are OK.
The most unforgivable thing to me is what X3RO mentioned: what in the world is up with the aiming? I can have my crosshair right on a guy’s noggin and the first shot will go three feet to the left. In a game that’s almost entirely gunplay, it’s kinda important to get that right.
Basically, I wish IO would deliver a sequel to their Freedom Fighters game instead of this ill-advised new IP.
TOG I do not get paid to review games I just give my opinion. And as gamers we are “always” putting games that are currently out against each other. Do you honestly think the Darkness would have been reviewed as well as it was,if it was released last week? I’m sorry, but I actually liked Cain and Lynch, but even more sorry I came here for rational discussion about the game. Thats cool though, my comment was totally uneducated, I will do you a favor and be sure never to post here again.
I did not want to incite a riot. There really is way too many personal emotions involved in this stuff lately. I wish developers would really quit giving swag and games to “semi-press”.
I think that even if some people are not swayed, it sure is hard to come off as non partisan when you are shown a little attention.
I’m not directing this at anybody in particular, I’m just saying if it was taken off the boards this would be a non issue.
Think of it this way, Paying for something (a meal, a game, a movie) is a lot diffeent than having it given to you. My Father taught me that lesson with my first car. He was right. I was way more critcal when it came to a purchace.
