Posted under .0 Shows, Podcast, XBL Radio by The Other Guy 1

A very special show of XBL Radio:
You’ve come to know and love them. They have been a part of your Tuesdays. They have warmed your heart, your soul, and your earbuds. However all good things must come to an end. Except for their constant bitching and moaning. So tune into their farewell show to hear why they had to take a break.
All this plus:

A Game review over Stranglehold,
and a Kid Pix over Hot Wheels.
The Marketplace Minute,
and our final log off.
Hope you enjoyed the shows, if not then your off my friends list…

I have not listened to this podcast yet but from reading this it seems the both of you are leaving. You both did great in the gaming community and I hope you both keep on gaming! Have a great life guys and hope you will return to be on live on live possibly?
Over and out, Thiskory9
I wish you guys well. You’ll be missed. I hope XBL Radio can continue.
sorry to see you guys go, wish you all the luck in the future.
Man, when you guys plan a joke, you really go all out. You’ve actually got people thinking you’re leaving, that’s hilarious.
You two had one of the best put together shows available. The time you must have spent editing, and the care that obviously went into it was greatly appreciated. Maybe you didn’t hear that enough. Your show will be missed. Hope that you just take a break, let the frustrations pass, and come back refreshed.
Those that carry on XBL have got their work cut out for them. Some big shoes to fill. I don’t envy them at all. Best of luck, you’ll need it.
Carpal, TOG, best wishes, and hope this isn’t good-bye.
WOW just wow…I have some inside info the two of them are moving to NH to get married and cook Johnny Cakes……….I’ll see you guys on Live.
I have listened to you guys for ages and i dont think this ‘having a break from the podcast thing’ is a good idea..
Sorry to be blunt but now what do i do Tuesdays??
Good luck guys, all the best..
Way to “try” and call out folks who worked hard and cry about it.
You guys need to be done - you give indy podcasting a bad name.
I’m not going to bag on your show, but at the same time, you guys need to take an indefinite break and shut the heckup.
Hey Ill still be talking “CRAZY 519″ , and I meant everything I said on the fianl .0. However I never “Bagged” on anyone who didn’t deserve it. Believe me if I brought the entire escapade to light it would be far uglier. I choose to take the high road.
However I feel that INDIE podcasting as you refer to it is anything but INDIE when big corporations like MS have a stake in what they do:
Flights, Games, Free Passes, etc…
Thats not INDIE. Indie is when you have no backing by a huge conglomorate. Perhaps Wikipedia is where you should start posting before you cap on us real INDIE podcasters!!!!
Fair point carpal - it just seems like you guys are giving up despite your strong feelings because some things didn’t go the way you wanted or thought they should.
I do not in any way discount your efforts and you are passionate about what you do (that is obvious), but it just seemed over the years that you guys as a whole made comments about other folks because you felt big companies didn’t take notice of you and you felt their efforts were not up to par with yours.
Finally, you feel some folks put out some crap vs. what you guys do and feel it was unfair that some folks got cred on XBL because they “shook hands with the right folks” as you put it. However, there has to be a start somewhere for the community. If XBL would have been first or someone else, there will always be someone to discount the cause and critique it.
I guess we will agree to disagree. Peace.
Much better. I like the well thought out take.
I know that it may feel like we would have been HYPACRITICAL if the shoe was on the other foot. However we were told that if we acted and toned down our show that “others” would take note. We made a conscious decision not too. The arguement I made on the last cast wasn’t that other sites were “sell-outs” it was that they cannot be non-bias and tied to MS or EA or any other big Co.
I also contend that many casters do their show for a foot-in-the-door. We stated from day one we were doing the show for informative and entertainment purposes.
Why I got pissy was because during PAX (I and other podcasters) spent their own dimes to fly out to Seattle and become part of the community.
MS decided (with the assistance of a particular ex podcaster) that they would showcase indie podcasts on their Platform. That’s when it got personal. Because as I saw it it only proved that MS wasn’t for the Community, they were for their Community. When I tried to ask certain reps why the certain choice for only podcasts that were associated with Chirs Paladino I was told because of impending legalease.
Hell I’ve watched enough LA Law to comprehend that posting images from un-commercialized podcasts would be an easy hurdle for the minds at MS. So I walked away with spite for those who were using so called Indie-Podcasts to propogate their product. That’s why I got mad.
One answer like: XBL RAdio sucks and these are my friends so of course I’m gonna promote them. Would have made me respect them a lot more. However they use Free Passes, Plane tickets, and that MVP Carrot to infiltrate the community.
I just tried to use honesty and a well crafted podcast from gamers for gamers.
That’s what that whole episode was about. Sorry if it offended any other podcasts or gamers. It’s how I feel, and unlike certain other sites (not all) I say what I feel. right or wrong. (Isn’t that what podcasts are for?)
for the record, crazy is not me.
Now great shows guys, carpal and tog, even though you haven’t always been political correct and even though I didn’t always agree with you, you two will sorely be missed on the .0’s. Despite some of the things that have been said here, you two have done huge things for the xbox community as well as the gaming community.
I don’t often agree with Mr. Carpel Tunnel, but he’s dead right in most of these accounts.
1) The podcast pics pissed me off and I didn’t even have a vested interested in XBL except as a listener. It just reinforced the fact that Microsoft is looking out for itself and giving everybody else the red ring!
2) I also agree that’s a lot of crap out there. I’ve listened to many shows and I’ve very particular. I only listen to podcasts where I can learn something I don’t already know or hear interesting conversation about things I’m not an expert on.
While I didn’t care for the news portion so much, I do love when TOG and Carpal start breaking down games and discussing the real issues in gaming. Kids Picks will be severely missed!
3) I completely that Halo 3 sucks. Game Informer just gave it a 9.5. Why? The Editor writes this lengthy thing about it not leaving up to his expectations, but he it does it a good job. SCREW THAT. Reviews are not supposed to be filtered. They are opinionated and brutally honest.
That’s what Carpal and TOG gave us. That’s exactly why they MUST return back to the booth. They are both men we can trust to bring us nothing but the truth!
Sad to see it go away, but I can understand what your talking about in needing a break. But the cool info will be surely missed and I feel this will be a void now. Hopefully the Live On Live shows will pick up some of that slack. See ya on Live Rusty and happy gaming all.
