  1. Thiskory9 Said,

Where can I download this cast?

  2. Rusty Ranchero Said,

The download link is working now. Enjoy.
    -Rust.

  3. Thiskory9 Said,

Hey, was The Orange Box review in there by default or did Rusty mention something to you guys about it to review it?

  4. Steve519 Said,

    Caveman = aweful
Carpool = pretty good so far
I agree with Carpal on the same day movie releases, I think that this is the way of the future
Don’t hate on the shirt giveaways
Rusty did you beat portal?there are some weapons and bad guys, plus it the game later shows that your suppose to be a test subject.
And for graphics on portal did you go into any of the hidden areas?tons of little graphical additions, and overall I thought the game looked pretty good(I’m just talking about portal as its only the game I played on the orange box)
So you gave both these games an 8?that’s what you have Halo, you can’t be serious
Alexander did a great job on the kids picks, her sounds so much older this time, I guess they grow really quick
Good show overall, BTW you forgot to mention the halo 3 tournament, I do wish you added that

  5. MrCarpalTunnel Said,

Rusty played through Orange Box twice. Guess he didn’t use weapons to finish it.

I gave Halo an 8. I also gave both War games the same. Sorry that you feel different. The war games had more emersive single player, and Halo had better multi. In my OPINION that makes them pretty even for an FPS fan. But I can see how a FAN of HALO may give HALO an advantage. However I am a fan of Gaming. (So Bias is not in my review to one game)

Show me where HALO (Story, graphics, and gameplay) are superior to Airborne. This may be hard to do considering story is opinion based and Im not a fan of cartoon sci-fi epics. I don’t even feel the same about Star Wars as I did when I was 12.

Also one last note on this Steve: How can you tell me that my review isn’t justified when you havn’t even tried either game I reviewed. This is just like saying “HALO IS SUPERIOR” without thinking. I don’t want to mention FANBOY but damn thats about as definitive as you can get!

  6. LIVE on LIVE Said,

Please only leave comments about ver54.0 and not personal problemns. Though we do care, we try to leave that to professional therapy.

  7. mik Said,

Great show, gentlemen. There are always so many nifty little snippets and soundbites thrown in–it’s gotta be a nightmare to edit. Good stuff.

The graphics are disappointing in The Orange Box? Hmm….that’s…interesting.

Playing and reviewing TWO WWII games in one episode? Now that’s what I call taking one for the team.

Drawn to Life is awesome–though I’m enjoying it for purposes that are not entirely wholesome.

Lastly–I want a turtle shell ashtray.

  8. Thrillhouse17 Said,

I thought that Portal looked just fine, and that TF2 looks and animates great. I also five HL2 a pass since it came out 3 years ago, yet still looks just fine.

Sorry Carpal, but Hour of Victory was horrible. Just utter garbage. I played through the whole thing (damn you easy achievement points) and felt my soul being sucked out of me.

I’m not touching the Halo/score debate. This is yet more proof that reducing something to a numbered score is not the best way to review a game.

Remember what you said about people only chiming in when they complain? Seems true. Good show.

  9. Mr B4 Said,

Whats going on carpal, i thought you were going to make the announcement about the segment for the show you and i talked about not too long ago.

  10. MrCarpalTunnel Said,

    @ Thrillhouse:

Here is the RUB on my Hour of Victory review. I played both games pretty close to one another. Each game was basically shoot, duck, shoot, jump, run, shoot, duck…

Then HALO3 came out. So instead of our War reviews we pre-empted our reviews to do HALO3. (We thought it would be more prudent)

Then 2 weeks later I had to regurgitate my War expieriences. Remembering the War on both games. Have to say it was kinda like Post Tramatic Stress Disorder. But I managed.

However here is the kick: Both games were so close in gameplay (perhaps not in instant memory) in retrospect that I had to review it on emotions at the time. Which is kinda cool. Let it settle for a bit and you get different perspectives.

Kinda like looking back on your first time (Kids ask your parents if you get lost here) While you were going at it it was awkward. But looking back it’s one of the fondest memories you may have. :-)

  11. Rusty Ranchero Said,

About the graphics in The Oragne Box: I’m still gaming in SD. So with that said, I stand by my thoughts that the Source Engine on the 360 looks unimpressive (in SD).

@ThisKory — The Orange Box review was improved. Carpal and I saw an opportunity to review a fresh and hot game, so we put it together just moments before press time.

    -Rust.

  12. Squidpunch.com Said,

[...] My friends over at XBLRadio have released episode 54 of their podcast. I was away this weekend so I asked one of the other great staff members of 3fs to do the friendspot spot. So make sure you head on over, check out Ant on the Friendspot Spot - and let him know how he did.[...]

  13. MrCarpalTunnel Said,

I want to thank your stand-in Squid. He did a great job and it was seamless. Nice to have the SPOT on each show. It really is interesting to see how some games lose momentum and others just keep rocking. I urge listeners to sign up asap.

  14. squidpunch Said,

@carpal - yeah he did a great job, perhaps even better than I did - glad he came through, it was kind of a last minute fill in thing. was cool to get another member / staff member to do the spot for a change :)

  15. JaeVicious Said,
