H3 to feature 4 player online co-op!

Posted under Thrillhouse17, XBL Radio by Thrillhouse17

During a official press conference in Amsterdam Microsoft and Bungie confirmed that Halo 3 will feature 4 player cooperative play on Xbox Live. More info coming soon.

“In Halo 3, the third installment of the legendary epic, the war has come to a climax; the Flood continues to grow in numbers and strength, the armies of Earth are scattered and decimated, and the Covenant threatens to activate the Halo, effectively destroying all life in the galaxy. Master Chief’s mission is to stop the Covenant, destroy the impending Flood threat and, ultimately, save mankind.”

Fanboys rejoice! Now the only question remaining: How awesome is Halo 3?

Will this game just come out so we can get over it already?

  2. Thrillhouse17 Said,

Thanks for the link. That is some really interesting news. Nice that there won’t be two of the same character running around. Will the internet explode on September 25?

  3. Steve519 Said,

is that a picture of carpal putting his foot in his mouth?

  4. JaeVicious Said,

I just the new copy of EGM electronically, and just read the Halo 3 coverstory… OMG… September cant get here fast enough.. In multiplayer they have a map editor, moving bases (that can carry troops and vehicles, customizable spartans AND elites, Jackal shield as equipment…. You have to pick that new issue up, TONS of halo info…

  5. Mr B4 Said,

Anybody else want it out on august 25th instead of sept. 25th, just doesnt seem like waiting that extra month is wort hit, does it?

  6. xboxliveaware Said,

I love the fact that each player plays a different character. I want to be the gold armored elite. I don’t why because I will hardly ever see his armor but it seems cool none the less.

  7. GUI J Said,

Dude, the gold armor elite is the Arbitor! ya know that guy from Halo 2

  8. Rusty Ranchero Said,

And of course we all fall for it. Great job Bungie and MS. I’m sure you take much pleasure in knowing that your grandchildrens education will be taken care of.

  9. MrCarpalTunnel Said,

This is great news if it works. I love the image (however In my defense I never put foot in mouth, I merely commented on no co-op speculation)

Perhaps they heard the ROAR of the XBL Radio community and said DAMN we gotta work fast! I’ll take the credit :-)

  10. JVB Said,

    Carpal looks hot, lol.

4 player co-op over Live is gonna give Halo 3 a new layer of longevity. Scary isn’t it?

  11. MrCarpalTunnel Said,

No I’m rooting for the OVER-DOG! I want HALO to succeed. In multi-player, in co-op, and in sales. This will ensure that the fanchise will be taken seriousley. It may seem as if I am critical but all I have to do is look at the hours played on Halo, Halo2, and Halo 2 Vista. I am more of a fan than your average gamer.

My only issue so far is a seriously long wait, so much HYPE it makes Paris Hilton seem modest, and a been there done that multi-player beta.

The last issue is fin for an “If it ain’t broke don’t fix it” attitude. However I was expecting some never-before-imagined shi*! What I saw and played was new guns, new locales, and familiar gameplay. Not a huge issue… but not something to write home about.

  12. The L1T1G4T0R Said,

When I saw this reported yesterday afternoon on filefront, I couldn’t help but smile.

    Bungie never lets us down.

I may have to spend the extra cash and buy the collectors edition just because now.

  13. JaeVicious Said,

Carpal, I think that was the purpose of the beta, to downplay the game… Then when you actually play it your like DAMN.. How EGM described the brute AI, and tons of new stuff (and they didnt even get to see everything) this is going to be a hell of a fall….

  14. Thrillhouse17 Said,

If anything this whole debacle has made me hate and despise PR. Why didn’t Bungie just come clean about 2 weeks ago, tell us that they were working on something special, and kill the rumor? It’s almost as if Bungie wanted to keep people talking about Halo as much as possible, drag out the ‘no co-op’ discussion, and as soon as that died down they added more fuel to the fire with the ‘4 player’ announcement. I hate PR. Just be honest with us from the get go, and quit trying to create hype.

  15. mik Said,

Yup. Free publicity and the opportunity to look like some sort of ridiculous savior for announcing that your game has a feature . . . that was previously announced. Genius.

  16. Rusty Ranchero Said,

Thrill your comments got me thinking more and how is this for a conspiricy theory?

This whole “debacle” was to distract us from the negative publicity that the crummy E3 trailer was getting. You know, major corporations have fun controlling the general public. They know we’ll fall for anything and it will never get old to them. Besides, it saves them face and money.

    -Rust.

  17. The L1T1G4T0R Said,

You hate it….but the consumers let it happen.

We lost the power to control what the marketplace gives us or tells us a long time ago.

Heck how can we expect Bungie to be honest when everybody in the world is hiding that secret until the last possible second. There’s supposedly credible news channels (Fox) which give out false information so should I expect a company out for profit to do the same?

It’s kind of funny that Carpel and TOG ran that anti-political video game ad on 49.0. The bottom line is people don’t care unless it affects them directly.

So I’m not going to get on a high horse and criticize Bungie for this when everybody is doing it. Does that make it right? No.

But if we, as gamers, are not prepared to refuse to support such companies that use these tactics by not buying their games or supporting their systems, our words are unfortunately useless.
