Xbox 360 Elite Not So “Elite” ?
Posted under Microsoft, Tech News, Xbox 360 by Silent CypherHey all of you in Xbox land! Any of you guys considering purchasing the Elite? If so, there are a few things that haven’t been mentioned very much that you need to know.
Remember when your original Xbox 360 died on you, and when you got a replacement, the arcade games or videos that you had purchased would only work when you were signed into Xbox Live? I’m afraid we arent out of the woods just yet…
Go to www.majornelson.com to see a walkthrough for the Elite, kindly presented by Major Nelson, Albert, and the always lovely Jen. Albert mentions that transferring your data will in fact cause the issue of requiring internet connection to get access to the full version of those old files. This isn’t a problem for most of us, being as we always want to be connected, but sometimes, there’s an exception. A Friend was talking to me about this a couple weeks ago, and brought up that he’ll let his kids play his 360, but doesnt want them going online. This is understandable, considering some of the jerks we come across online. The only trouble here, is that his kids wont be able to play the games he had purchased on his original system.
Is there a way for Microsoft to fix this problem, maybe through a system update? Nothing is impossible, I just hope there isn’t some wormhole preventing this solution from becoming a reality.
-The second thing you should know, being as it is integral to the comment above. The Elite system does not include the transfer cable that you need to transfer your data. I would say that this is a major problem, however, Microsoft is going to make this cable available to owner’s of the Elite, for free, from their website. “Why couldnt they have just included it in the package?” you say. Three reasons I can come up with off the top of my head.
1. Lack of free space in the box.
2. The majority of Elite adopters will be first time users, so this is presented as a useless throw-in.
3. If they only release the transfer cable to those who need it, they can save money.
The fortunate thing is, while we do have to wait for the cable to arrive in the mail, we can still use our 20 gig harddrive. Thanks again to Larry, Albert, and Jen for finally debunking the mystery that is the Xbox 360 Elite. It has at least given us a guide to help us determine if we should upgrade, or if we should stay with our trusty Premium and/or Core system.

Haven’t really thought about the fact that you have to be signed on to play the arcade games you purchased. That worries me cause we will be changing ISP’s sometime soon and I will be without internet for like a month and my arcade games too apparently. Hopefully an uproar will occur to get this fixed when the elite comes out.
you don’t have to be online, they with the transfer cable they supposely fixed that issue
Wow you guys are really bashing this thing. I would be glad that at least they got the HDD out and give people (rich people that is) the option to get HDMI.
Screw the e-lite… im jumpin on the PS3 for the next time i have to buy a console.
They stated on the video, that it will have the same problem as it had before, when albert was talking on the video. And i’m not bashing on the system Itch. I’m just a cautious consumer.
like always thise low life web page bashing larry and ms just dont get the elite ans shut the f.up
Right listen to chava, because he speaks like an intelligent person. But really chava, since your spelling is really bad, and you say your spelling is not so good cause English is not your first language is it possible your reading of the English language is jaded? Cause any rational person could read this and understand we are not bashing Larry of Ms we are just trying rationalize the purchase of an existing system that we already own, not everyone is rich. So if you feel like we are the low lives of the gaming world I implore you not to come here anymore. There are those of us who like what our staff has to say, and if you continue to stop by here does that not make you one of the low lives also? So chava unless you are 13 years old or less there is no excuse for your behavior. If you are that young, well if you really want to have any type of social life as you get older, with true friends, this is not the way to conduct your self. If you are over the age of 13 then you are already lost and I feel sorry for your mother. So please do not come here dissing my XBL brothers or I will have to put you in your place…again.
I think Chava needs to repeat the 2nd grade…
the only reason i came here is because youre lover steve519 apper in the major nelson web page and trash the elite and other things and thats why im here dont send youre people to majornelson.com to conplaying or to prome youre low ultra low rating show if im here is just to tell you that you guys suck if thise whas a gamexxx.com i didnt bother but i hate people that uses the name of the xbox comunity to bash ms and xbox360 even when we all know that x360 is more fun then youre lovely ps3 that i also have and not happy with it so next time dont go to majornelson to promote and bash mj im im cool and youl never see me again
Let me add fuel to the fire. Here’s a battle between N’Gai Croal and Dean Takahashi on the whole thing. Mind you Dean wrote a book on the 360
